We do..there are safety issues, they all need to know how to basically communicate in english in case they see a rock is going to fall on someones head and how to call an ambulance. Our foreman also learnt some of their words so he can say go faster to them.

depends on which country they are from and if there are any mangers who can speak other languages.
most companies and government agencies have employees who can speak the many immigrant languages.

the "wokers" that pick plants only need to know a very few American English words to do that job. and they only need to spell as well as you.

Have you ever tried to learn another language? I do agree with you that if you are in a different country, you need to learn the language, but keep in mind it's not so easy, and American is the most difficult of all, since we pride ourselves on allowing changes, adding new words and deleting others.
