There are so many places that I'd love to see, but I just don't know where to start. I'm all by myself and I don't have much money, but I'm unsatisfied with my current life and I'd love to have some adventure. I want to know if theres anything out there, I want to see it for myself and be able to tell my Grandchildren of all the adventures I had when I was young. It sounds easy enough, but everyone I know isn't interested in traveling, they're all happy how they're living. I wish I could be satisfied, but I can't go on living in this town untill I know there's a whole other world out there. I want to see the world.

I puzzled over this question....You have to begin somewhere. Begin by opening a savings account and direct depositing 10% of every paycheck in it. You need seed money, and if you never see that sum you will not miss it. Let it grow.

Second, get your passport. You can't answer opportunity when it knocks if you are not prepared.

Are you bilingual? Not everyone speaks English. Sign language helps, but so does some basic French or Spanish.

If you are a young woman traveling alone, I strongly urge you to find a companion. It's too risky going solo. But once you get to your destination, say London (a nice English-speaking city), you and your companion can hitchhike out of the city. Once in the country, you can barter work for food and lodging. There are hostels, too, where you share sleeping space and bath, but the rates are affordable. Having your own backpack and sleeping bag helps. Having family, friends or pen-pals in foreign destinations helps too.

The time to do this is now when you are young and unfettered. I had to wait till my kids were all grown and I was divorced. Now I'm too old to sing for my supper, but I live really really frugally so that once a year I can take off, alone, with a backpack, to a totally alien country like China or Lithuania where I can live amongst the people. It's what I live for! Good luck to you and may you find a way!
