I have extremely dry skin and have tried just about everything. What seems to work the best is Cetaphil cream. Creams always work better than lotions.
When used in combination with skipping soap as much as possible it makes a huge difference. You also want to apply it to damp skin to seal in whatever moisture you can.

"Remember, too, just because a product has a certain ingredient, that doesn't necessarily mean it has enough of it to make a difference."
The web site will give you a complete list of recommended ingredients. (Too much to print here.)
This following information is from... http://skincarerx.com/hand-lotions.html
"Some ingredients to look for to treat dry skin are alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic acid, lactic acid, etc.), urea, mineral oil, stearic acid, propylene glycol, glycerin, etc. Stay away from anything that contains alcohol! Other ingredients that are often added to moisturizers are lanolin (which is extremely moisturizing, but may cause an allergic reaction), vitamin E, essential fatty acids, collagen, elastin, and keratin. Vitamins C, D, and E, may be of benefit (please refer to the vitamin page for more info) One important tip in the use of moisturizers is to apply to damp skin. This helps trap more moisture in the skin, keeping it better lubricated.
Between the two web sites you should find all the information you are looking for but much of it is a matter of personal preference.

Try Olive Oil. Because pure olive oil has very fine molecular structure - like Essiential Oil, it will be absorbed by our body. They are able to penetrate through our pores and go under the skin. Most moisturizers are oil-based so as to keep the skin 'moist' but there are not being absorb, hence clogging our pores. Make sure the oilve oil you use are really pure as there are many different grades in the market. ( NOT THE OLIVE OIL FOR COOKING please! ) You may need to do some read ups to understand better. If you want, you may link to this website that i know http://www.olive.sg
Enjoy !!

mineral oil is a no-no. It blocks dirt into your pores and prevents your skin from breathing.
