The Holy Spirit is key to learning the Bible and knowing Jesus Christ. And Jesus knows that some will mis-read, or not be able to read. Or that a younger Christian might not be familiair enough with the Holy Spirit to ask God to fill him/her daily.
The Lord knows human weaknesses. So.........................

Finally someone who see through the hype and got it right the priests twist distort and manipulate the Bible to their profit and if some one asks a question they dont know the answer to they come up with some line pof malarkey like its a big mystery we werent meant to understand or we just have to have faith and believe its that way if you knew how little training they actually get in the Bible you would be surprised in a 4 year seminary program they actually get from 4 hours to a max of 2 weeks out of 4 years and in some of the less reputable seminaries up to mabey 15 minutes in 4 years so I agree with the help of the Holy Spirit you can learn the Bible and as the ethiopian Eunoch said a little guidance and you can go a long way my Granddaughter and daughter at 6 yrs old knew more about the Bible than the priest or his deacon A former catholic been there moved on to being a CHRISTIAN Gorbalizer

All three Abramic religions teach that the clergy are more knowledgeable about the desires and instructions of God than are the common piety. The priestly class was first formed in Judaism (read Leviticus) and further emphasized by Paul in 1st and 2nd Corinthians. It's a fixture of Christianity that can be avoided only in very small groups with no clear leadership structure. However, the small group runs the risk of becoming a cult, which can lead to spiritual enslavement greater than the more organized, and self-policed, denominations.

I don't believe that the clergy are the only people able to teach and interpret the Bible. There is a distinct way to interpret the Bible and maintain a thorough teaching. Even the Bible had the house of Levi as priests to pass along the word the way it was meant to be.
The Bible can be interpretted many ways or even perverted into various teachings. Clergy give direction and guidance. With that guidance...even brief guidance....you should be fine.

I think its a way for the religious spirit to maintain control over the church.God wants intimacy with us,religion wants to keep people oppressed, depressed, and not to move in the gifts God intended HIS children to receive. If the church controls, then the Spirit of God is squelched,God is not like man at all.He desires us to function just as Jesus did.Not religion, then how would they make all the money they do.They sell only a reflection, and its sometimes very distorted. That's why people are more apt to leave churches, and worship at home.I'm not saying all churches, but the religious ones.God will some day say to those depart from me I never knew you. Those that have fleeced HIS flock will pay for what they did to his children.

According to the bible, the Holy Spirit was sent to the apostles to guide them into all truth and they guided others and wrote the bible and taught others who went on to write scripture.
John 20 30, 31 And many other signs truly Jesus did in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing ye might have life through his name.

I love your picture. Well God did send us the Holy Spirit but we can learn things from people who have studied the bible for years. I think in college clergy get a lot of theology and sometimes this confuses them as it puts a lot of mens views on things rather than God. God left us His word and it is in the end it is up to us to read it and not be lazy and only be spoon fed the gospel by other people. We must learn to eat meat and that is what it is talking about.

1 Cor 12:28
please note "teachers"
Eph. 4:11
please note "teachers"
some are gifted to teach for a group, but the Holy Spirit is the "helper" for these areas. The Holy Spirit will "agree" with you in spirit during these times of learning. Teachers aid in the process.

The "holy spirit" also tells people to murder their children. How do you know it's not your own internal processes telling you what to think and do? You seem to trust that you know your unconscious mind better than most people.
If you learn to read new testament Greek and old testament Hebrew and understand the culture in which the bible is written, then perhaps you will have the ability to interpret the bible adequately. But oddly, that's what clergy are in the business of doing.

right you who dose not know the basic grammar and structure of the Bible can understand its meaning and principals.
tell me do you read a English translation of a Greek copy?
do you honestly think you know what your doing?
I am not Christian or Catholic but they have a good point.
If the Holy Spirit gave everyone the truth then everyone would believe the same thing. The fact that their are over 3,000 Christian denominations shows this is not true.
OK lets see who where G-d Prophets
Abraham, Issac, Jacob- all rich and powerful shepherds and merchants that were well educated and influential
Moses- leader of the Nation of Israel
Joshua, Samuel, Samson, Elli, King David and King Solomon all powerful and influential as well as educated leaders.
this is just a few. What were you saying again?
