well i dont use vasaline on my face because its really intense and makes me break out cuz it does clog pores(because its so thick.)...but i use it for everything else....its very good at healing dry skin everywhere else because of its intensity...so only use it for extremely dry skin.

Technically, vaseline is not a moisturizer. What it does is seal moisture in. By weight your skin is 70% water so sealing it in is the best way to moisturize.
Some of the better and more expensive skin treatments have a petroleum base if you look at the ingredients. That is exactly what vaseline is!
Elizabeth Arden sells a very expensive product in a tube for protecting your skin when outdoors. The active ingredient? Petroleum jelly!
It definitely works. I put it on my cuticles every night and often use it on my elbows and feet. You'll find it makes a huge difference for your body and costs next to nothing.

DEFINITELY!!!
If you really want to maintain the moisture though, use it right after you shower. Leave some water on your skin, then put the vaseline on. I worked at a Derm office and he would ALWAYS tell her patients, "Dryness is not a loss of oil, its a loss of water".
The vasaline acts like a barrier. It keeps the moisture in, that is why you should always leave a little water on the skin when applying lotion or any moisturizer.

No, it's not a good moisturizer, the principle active ingredients
is petroleum jelly, this is heavy and will clog your skin. For a while it will be okay but eventually you will develop a lot of sebum that will lead to black heads and white heads. If that's what you want go ahead. Buy a moisturizer according to you skin type.

Vaseline is a great moisturizer, but only for severely dry skin. Don't use it on your face if you have oily or normal skin, only if your skin is very dry or chafed. It works great for feet, hands, lips, etc. *Another good thing...mix a glob with your normal body lotion and it moisturizes more without being greasy.

My dermatologist told me long ago that vaseline is the BEST moisturizer, and that women spend too much money on ineffective treatments. He did advise, however, that as you apply the vaseline, use WATER as well (just as you would apply soap-and-water). That will prevent the greasiness. Also, you don't need to use vaseline in abundance: just a little mixed with water. I do this twice a week. Try it!

Vaseline is good for lips... as moisturiser... if for body - try baby oil, a little goes a long way.. For face, use something that has sun screen/block in it...
