Sure, homeschooling in Texas is great.
I suggest you begin your search by checking
www.hslda.org
and www.thsc.org
the first one is the homeschool legal defense association and they have all the laws for all the states, plus lots of other information.
The second is the Texas Home School Coalition. They have all the info specifically for Texas including exactly what to do if your children are in the publicschools and how to get them out and preserve your rights.
Great decision!

I agree with the previous posters (check into the law at the HSLDA website and Texas specifics at THSC site). I would only add that you should also talk to real homeschoolers in your area. They can give you advice on almost everything related to homeschooling, from withdrawing your child(ren) from the public schools to what curriculum you should try to area field trips, to park days and clubs for the kiddos to join.

I second the websites given by Terri, (www.hslda.org
and www.thsc.org)! They are the greatest sources of information to turn to if you want to homeschool your children. Be sure to subscribe to the free THSC Homeschooling magazine, this was so invaluble and precious to me-especially when I was first looking into homeschooling! There are two quick links below- the first one is for specific info on getting started, curriculum, and dealing with school districts, and the second link is to sign up for the free homeschooling magazine. I still receive the magazine and it is still such a blessing four years later !
