Me and my friend were watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Willy Wonka( johnny depp) says that there is a chemical or an ingredient in chocolate that is also produced in the brain when ur in love. So eating choco is like being in love? Is this true?

The chemical is called Dopamine and it is produced in the brain whenever you feel any kind of pleasure, love, sex, and for some people ,pain(which is pleasurable to them ).It's true chocolate also produces this chemical but it takes a lot of chocolate to do it,this is why guys send their wives and girlfriends a BOX of chocolates and not a candy bar.

There are indeed common dopaminergic reward pathways in the brain for enjoying things such as drugs/food/sex.

Di Tomaso et al. (1997) found small amounts of anandamide to be naturally occurring in chocolate. Anandamide is a substance that acts on the same receptors as THC (cannabis!).

There is also caffiene (a stimulant) in chocolate, as well as a substance called theobromine (another weak stimulant similar to caffeine) and also a substance called phenylethylamine (which is said to be amphetamine-like).

These are some of the reasons why chocolate might make you feel good!

[edit] Chocolate as an aphrodisiac
Romantic lore commonly identifies chocolate as an aphrodisiac. The reputed aphrodisiac qualities of chocolate are most often associated with the simple sensual pleasure of its consumption. More recently, suggestion has been made that serotonin and other chemicals found in chocolate, most notably phenethylamine, can act as mild sexual stimulants. While there is no firm proof that chocolate is indeed an aphrodisiac, giving a gift of chocolate to one's sweetheart is a familiar courtship ritual.

yes it's true ! i didn't believe this either when i found it in my dream book!! but then i looked it up and found out it's true. chocolate produces a chemical called "phenylamanine" (not sure if it's spelled right). this chemical is also produced (by the brain) when someone falls in love. you know that warm, "tingly" feeling u get when ur in "love" ? thats what happens...

my chemistry teacher confirms this also

maybe that's why everyone likes chocolate?

Haaa! yes that is true. Compare the feeling of happiness to love and it is true. Compare the feeling of eating to much chocolate to being sick and it is true too! Too much of anything will get the best or worst of you! Love sweet love!
