If you quote the bible, what is the appropriate way to do so? Example, would this format be correct?

"I thank my God every time I remember you." - Philippians 1:3 (New International Version)

Are the quotes in the right place? Is the hyphen between the verse and the book the right punctuation? Can you show me a reference of the appropriate way to quote the bible?

What is the proper way to quote the bible?

In harmony with what is really being said.

Yes, you are right about quotation marks,

The scripture reference can go before or after the quotes.

Is it wrong to not use quotation marks?

it depends on how you set the verse apart from what you are saying.

(Romans 15:4-6) 4 For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had, 6 that with one accord YOU may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Adding quotation marks to the following example may confuse who is actually speaking.

Matth 4:7 Jesus said to him: “Again it is written, ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’” (If you had quotations to this behind the word test you would have ' " ",

so it would look like this.

" 7 Jesus said to him: “Again it is written, ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’” "

which could be confusing.

How To Quote The Bible

I would not include the dash - "I thank my God every time I remember you." Phillipians 1:3 (New International Version)

Or you could say, (NIV)

If you are writing a paper with a number of biblical quotations, you could include a footnote after the first quotation:
*All quotations from the Bible are from the New International Version unless indicated otherwise.

You said "god's holy word and perfect in every form" but then you turn and say there are verses that are contradictory. That doesn't make sense. Maybe I should read the context of your statements. How important is context? "Judas hung himself. Now go and do likewise."

You're entirely right. The only thing I would add is if there is more than one verse you're quoting, it's formatted like so:
Phillipians 1:3-5.
