I just signed the lease forms for a walkup rental apartment in NYC on the UES. I have lived in NYC for 5 years but with my parents so I wondered-- can you paint the walls of a rental studio? I love my new apartment but I HATE the color of the cream on the walls. its too yellow. uck. Could I just go ahead and paint them if I paint them back at the end?

I usually depends on your lease. If your lease allows you to change the color of the walls, go for it. If your lease doesn't mention it, I would ask your landlord. If you tell him you'll paint it back when you move out, he might be ok with that.
