YOu have to remember you are in charge and even though he is only 20 months old they know how to work it allready. If he is still in his crib it is easier to do because they are not crawling out of their beds.
Routine is the best and stick to it. Bath, read books then to bed no if ands or buts. He will put up a fight and cry at first but when you don't give in he will just go to sleep with no problems.
Remember a baby that gets enough sleep is a happier baby.

First, he is just over 1 1/2 yrs. old. You, as the paren,t need to adjust him to a routine for bedtime. Warm bath, tuck him in, read some stories to him, kiss him goodnight and turn out the light. If you make it seem like fun to him, he won't balk at going to sleep. Do the same things every night and while reading, use a soft an soothing voice.

If you already have a set bed time and bed time routine you may want to cut back on day time naps. If they sleep too much or are not active during the day it can make bed time a nightmare. Good luck.

I give mine a little benadrill before he goes to bed.. but not all the time.. just long enough to get him use to going to bed at a certain time very night.. it works.. but don't use it for to long cause they can get hooked and wont be able to sleep without it

get him really active during the day. as active as you can. you'll notice at night he'll be too tired to argue. also, if he's afraid of the dark, get a night-light.

Get a large blanket and swaddle him. That might work.
