I am gowing down for a for a few weeks from the US and need to contact other traveling freinds. Any Ideas?

Depends if it's a carier that offers GSM (Cingular, T-Mobile, and I think Tracfone) networks then you may have a shot, but if it's a CSMA (Verizon, Alltel, Sprint/Nextel, and U.S. Cellular) carier then you might as well not pack your cell!

That will depend on your type of service you pay for & the type of cell phone you have.
I called my cell phone provider before I went to Africa and my phone worked there. I had a relatively new cell phone plus my plan included out of the country calls.
You need to call you provider and they will have an immediate answser for you. Not sure about Belize but your provider will be able to tell you.
