Lets say I just had my baby, I'm not on any medications and I am not breastfeeding... How soon can I resume drinking?

I am not breastfeeding... so therefore there will not be an issue with the alcohol effecting my breastmilk

Im not talking about going out and getting plastered every night. Im talking about casual drinking with my fiance... or having a few at thanksgiving so my family doesn't drive me insane... that sort of thing. I am by no means planning on going out and being a party animal and then coming home to TRY and take care of my sweet little angel...
Just thought i would clarify.

I think you should stat drinking when ever you feel is right, and when you think you can handle a newborn baby and remember the side effects of alcohol can screw your brain up

Well, you should consult your doctor, but my best guess would be it's okay to have an occasionally drink, but with a newborn you shouldn't be out getting wasted, because you have already been under so much stress with having a child. I hope this answer helps!

Ask a doctor. I believe I remember hearing about studies that showed alcohol consumption effected breast milk, but I could be wrong. Definitely ask a doctor.

Good question for your doctor. I would at least give yourself time to heal up.

If you drink in moderation, you can still have a drink or two while nursing.

Even if you aren't nursing, you should only be drinking in moderation. ;-)

Whenever you feel like it. Its not like you are hurting your baby right? Just abandoning it.
