It sounds like a heart problem associated with your circulation. I would go to a doctor.

Have you ever been tested for diabetes? Even if it doesn't run in your family you can still get it, as I found out last year when I received that nasty and unwelcome bit of news about my health.
The numbness you are experiencing may be the start of something called "neuropathy" and is associated with diabetes.
Don't waste any more time--GET TO A DOCTOR/EMERGENCY ROOM AT ONCE !!!
And please have a blood test taken to rule out diabetes.

You need to get to your doctor. Sounds like you are retaining too much fluid. They will need to give you some medication and find the underlying cause. It could be the start of COPD or CHF or just another symptom of high blood pressure.

the classic cause of lower limb swelling is heart failure. This would also have shortness of breath, occ chest pain.

Better check your kidney(related tests, urine, blood. etc). Could be water retention also. Oh remember to check blood pressure too.
Take Care!
