I will respond to your question as i see it pertains to visual arts since that is where your question is placed. Rhythm is the repetition of the elements of design in a composition. The elements of design are line, shape, form, color, texture, value, positive and negative space. When a person uses repetition of the elements in some way, it creates a feeling of movement or causes the eye to move around the composition. We like repetition and rhythm. It keeps us interested in the art work. Rhythm is one of the principles of design. The principles help us understand how to use the elements of design.
