If you are apathetic, doesnt that mean you abandon ties with or worship or adoration for a given principle or being? Isn't eternal abandonment eternal apathy or eternal damnation or eternal hate? What is the difference?

If you hate someone, you have to care about them. There is no hate without emotion.
Apathy is the lack of emotion...the lack of care.

If Love is on one side of the scale and Hate is on the other, Apathy is in the very middle.

Apathy is the lack of emotion or strong feelings and opinions about something, a situation, or someone. It is the opposite of both hate and love. It really doesn't have anything to do with religion specifically, though I am sure you could say some people are apathetic about religion, God, etc.

Apathy means one does not care about what is going on , no feeling or emotion about it.Its the kind of people who only care about that things are right fo them and are indifferent to the needs and cares of others. You can believe and pray and give worship to God but do so only in relation to yourself(obviously ignorant as to what it means to be Christian) Hate is a very strong emotion-a very strong dislike of something or someone and also the plural of things and groups of people. As people who say they hate gays or people of other races and so on. Abandon means you leave behind, turn your back on, walk away from. Each one of these is distinct and the meaning is not the same for all three for each one of these conditions has its own distinct meaning.

Apathy is not the same as hate.

When you hate someone, you still think about them. They still play a part in your life, and effect it. If you are apathetic (or indifferent) towards someone, they don't matter one way or another. You don't think about them, don't care about them; it would make no difference to you whether they were alive or dead.

Hate is not the opposite of love - indifference is. If you hate someone, you give them power over you; you let them control your emotions so intensely that your hate for them effects the way you live your life. You allow them to occupy your mind rent-free. Indifference means that you do not care about them at all. They don't make enough of a difference to you for you to care, and thus you never think about them or allow them control over you.

Apathy means a lack of concern, no feelings. Hate on the other hand is a strong negative feeling. It is true, a Christian should have compassion and exhibit concern just as Christ did.

No.

Apathy and Hate are not the same thing.

Hate only has four letters. Apathy has six.
Hate only has one "A". Apathy has two "A"s.

Possibly you might want to look into that a little bit.

Apathy is worse than hate. When you hate something or someone, you have a strong feeling inside of you that needs to be expressed. When you are apathetic, you don't care about someone or something... To have no feeling inside toward someone is to feel dead toward them. When it comes to a marriage, when you hate your spouse, at least there is emotion involved that can be challanged, but if your marriage is apathetic, then there no emotion to work with.
