A couple of weeks ago my best friend had her 1st year anniversary. She made him this collage with pictures of them and everything. and her boyfriend didn't get her anything. she keeps on insisting that she doesn't care but i know she does. and lately everyone keeps telling her what he did was wrong but she doesn't think so. What do you guys think? and what should i do to help her out?

IF IT REALLY BOTHERS HER SHE SHOULD HAVE A CLEAR STRAIGHT FORWARD COMMUNICATION WITH HIM !!!
HE SHOULD BE AWARE HOW SHE REALLY FEELS THRU OPEN COMMUNICATION !!!
OTHERWISE MISUNDERSTANDINGS WILL ARISE AND PROBLEMS IN THE RELATIONSHIP WILL FOLLOW !!!

You should stop telling her this was wrong, that is not helping her a bit. She already feels bad, however, perhaps he really did not have the money to purchase a gift. Hmm, isn't that something to think about. Because he did not buy her a gift does not mean he cares any less about her. And being a friend you and the others need to stop telling her how wrong he was, this is not what a true friend would do. By telling her this you are only going to make her feel worse and keep reminding her of the situation. A true good friend would listen if she wanted to express her feelings about it and not say a word. God bless

If the first anniversary isn't that important to remember or do something for her on that date then the next ones that follow won't be. A year together is still supposed to be the "honey moon" time period of when things are right if differences or whatever can't be pushed aside for the first memorable date then its not meant to be.

I think what she did was right, and although we guy don´t usually do things like that, at least for a first anniversary he should have done something.
Maybe he is not the right one, but all you can do is be there for her, is not very smart to get between couples

I don't think that he didn't mean to not get her anything. Maybe he forgot, or is new to the dating and didn't know. I don't she should stress the situation. People always have something to say about everyone else's business. Tell her don't be mad at her man but let him know how she feels. Honesty in any relationship is very important. Good Luck!!

Guys don't get into that type of thing like girls do. He should offer an apology to her, for not realizing how much it meant, and maybe a nice dinner somewhere to make up for it. If he misses the two year one, then that would be a clear message

1st year anniversary of what??? When they met? Their fist date? Their first kiss?

1st anniversary is just a silly fickle thing unless there is some type of commitment like a wedding.

Men are not like us..most forget our birthdays never mind our anniversaries..it's not such a big deal..don't make a mountain out of a molehill..and after all, it's her boyfriend /relationship..you should respect that and keep out of it..?

What he did wasn't completely WRONG... guys tend to forget about anniversaries, because girls are more picky about them. To help her out... you CAN go secretly talk to her bf and help him think of something good to get for our friend.

some guys just dont get it, my husband is one of em. you never get use to it. Some guys are very romantic and express thier affection, others dont. I love my husband for other reasons, but it would be nice if he took a minute to think of and do a little something extra sometimes.

If she wanted him to do something, she would have given him hints or reminded him it was coming up. Men never notice those things until they are trained. Leave her be. If she feels it is important, it is her job to say so. Questioning her values makes her feel that you don't value her judgement. Keep your ideas to yourself until you are asked for it.
