It could well be a cyst or a blocked sweat gland. I suffer from the latter and it can be very painful.....but they do go after a while.

You have just reminded me....have had these lumps before!
Not sure if it's stress related or not, but have done nothing about them and they just go!!
Just checking - sore, painfull, red, smallish lumps in the armpit area???
If yes? - they do go!! It could be just friction from clothes (believe it or not)? Try not to worry - as you have been to the doctors already and may take a wee while to sort itself!
It is difficult to ignore as the irritation does interfere, but it will go, and you won't even realise it until you don't notice it!!!?!!! I know this may not make sense, but it's like headaches.....you don't realise it's gone till you think of something that makes you wonder when it went!!!!
SORRY.... I know what I mean (I hope you do)! hehehehe
Don't worry as stress can bring on other problems;¬)

It's probably a boil. If so, you need to use hot saltwater compresses to bring it to a head and it will make it feel better too. then go tothe pharmacy and buy the old ecthimol?sp. Black salve. It has a drawing property to it and will bring it to a head faster. You have to be very dilligent and do this as often as possible or this will just stay there and hurt. It may be an ingrown infected hair folicle and they hurt like heck. Use the compresses at least 5-6 times a day, more if you can. good luck.

I agree, it sounds like a cyst and they are common under the armpit, due to all the glands there, they can be really uncomfortable.
When I had one my doctor gave me a few antibiotics which helped clear it up, try not to poke and prod it too much as this may just agrivate it, it should, however, go away on its own in a short time even with out anti biotics.

Sounds like a cyst. There really isnt much you can do about them. If it feels like theres puss in there, take a shower and put the water as hot as you can stand it. Take a wash cloth and apply LOTS of pressure. Yes it will hurt but it will pop. Once it pops u will feel ALOT better. If its not puss feeling inside I would go back to your doc. I have had LOTS of cysts before I know how to treat them! Good luck, I feel your pain

The GPs in the UK are there to serve you. You are paying for them with your taxes.
One day you'll old enough to understand that feeling silly for something you are paying, you are entitled to, is not really clever.
Go back, ask him to dagnose again, and if he insist you have nothing, make an appointment with another doctor (most surgeries have several).
If everyithing fails and you are still in discomfort call the NHS helpline for advice.
Do not procastinate with your health, many sickneses are harmless in the long term if caught early.

well do you have cancer in your family? But even so go back remember your paying him... Tell him it hurts it hasn't gone away and you would like some test done or to see a skin speacilist or even a oncologist to check if its cancer related... Don't feel silly going back remember you may not have a medical degree but this is your body and you know when somethings wrong...

if it was me i'd go back to your doctors tell him it's not going away and you are concerned and it is still hurting.
Have you knocked it at all?
Does it hurt all the time or when it's pressed?
It could be a cyst, the doctor could be right, however if it is causing you discomfort i'd go back or get a second opinion.

If your uncomfortable this long and think his diagnosis may be a little off go get a second opinion. That may be the safest route to go anyway. Sometimes second opinions make a big difference.
