Buena idea. Yo estoy estudiando, y espero que algun dia puedo hablar mejor que ahora.
Espanol es una lengua muy bonita y casi toda la gente en el mundo pueden hablar mas que una lengua y por eso estoy tratando apprender mas que una por mi parte.

The simple answer is there isn't any need to.
Mexicans mostly learn English because it gives them opportunities for prosperity. The prosperity of English in turn propogates the language in media and other languages- making it easier to learn.
Americans do not see value in Spanish in their daily lives- and with some reason. The bigger picture though is that the government is desperate to reach out and influence the countries of the Western Hemisphere and a little respect and common ground provided by people learning their language could definitely be a factor.
All this aside Spanish is an elegant melodic language- (as long as it isn't spoken too quickly) you'd have to be very narrow minded to have anything against it, or any learning in general.

You wanna know why?
#1.) Despite whatever lies La Raza, MeCha or whatever pro-hispanic organization has fed you, the Hispanics are NOT the majority in the USA, and they likely will not unless that worthless country south of the USA border decides really to send over 60% of its population to the USA.
#2.) You think its just Caucasians and Africans who comprise the other group of Americans dontcha? WRONG. There are many other minorities you know (Asians, Arabs, etc.) and like most of the Caucasians and Africans none of them feel a need to learn your language.
#3.) Spanish is only learned by non-speakers if there is a clear need (any important bi-lingual job or an appointment to Spain or some other Spanish-speaking country). They do not do it just to accomodate stupid and ignorant people who cannot speak English (yes it hurts but its true).
#4.) If the sales pitch for Spanish classes were made by people like yourself do'nt ever expect any takers.
#5.) No country in modern history (again ignore any lies fed to you by pro-illegal groups) ever ever orders its own citizens to learn an alien language just to accomodate immigrants

Assuming you are referring to Americans who speak English and not Spanish, it is due to the difficulty of a native English speaker to learn a Romance language such as Spanish. English is a Germanic language and follows different grammar rules than Spanish, French, Latin, and more. English is also unique amongst the Germanic and Romance languages in that its articles (it, the) adjectives, and nouns do not carry a gender.
It is extremely difficult for most native English speakers to learn a foreign language, as they have multiple grammar rules that do not exist in English.

It's a good idea that Americans learn to speak Spanish, the same way to the Latin American/and other immigrants learn to speak English. Being bi-lingual is a plus to your knowledge. USA is a nation molded from different race of people with different languages. Understanding English, Spanish and other languages
can help and improve a person's knowledge to live in this
modern world of ours.

If someone wants to communicate while in the US they need to speak the most common language. We should not need to learn a second language to survive in the country we were born in. Foreign born people move here to take advantage of the benefits this country has to offer. It is a privilege to move to this country and for them to refuse to learn English and then expect us to change for them is a slap in the face. Most of my non-English speaking ancestors learned to speak English. The two that didn't never expected anyone to learn Polish to communicate with them. It would have been unbelievably obnoxious.

Probably because the language of the United States of America is English. Now, I were going to live in a spanish speaking country, it would be up to me to learn the language of the land so I can communicate with people.

I'd love to learn Spanish, and French and many other languages---because it would be great to be so "lingual".
However, since I'm American, I'll stay content to speak the language that George Washington used when he spoke to his troops.
The language that Jefferson used when he drafted the Declaration.
When I travel, I get by with other languages--its' my choice to travel. When I'm home (and that's all over these 50 states) I'll speak my NATIVE tongue.
I have no probs with immigrants--we're almost all immigrants. But when you go outside your natural country you should expect to adopt their ways on the broadest issues--like language.
¡Hablemos inglés en América!

There is no need to learn spanish. If there was a need it would be on an individual basis, unlike the need for spanish speakers to learn english.
