I would take the kick boxing & jiu jitsu for a couple of reasons. Its true the longer drive will get tiring real fast (especially in bad weather). But the main reason is kickboxing & jiu jitsu is more balanced than just BJJ. You get both striking & grappling. There isn't much striking in BJJ.

One school offers jiu jitsu and the other is closer and offers both? The answer seems obvious. You can learn a great deal about jiu jitsu from a blue belt, even, if you are a rookie.

Do the one closer to your home. If you do the one 50 miles away you will get tired of the drive after awhile and that will be the reason you stop training.

I would not drive 50 minutes to train, over the years this commute would consume too much time.

I think you need to train at the one closer to home if they are both somewhat equal in your opinion. You are much more likely to stick to the training if the ride is somewhat convienent.

it all boils down to which school offers more emphasis on practical usage of the techniques in self defense. THAT should be the deciding factor...not distance...not cost...just practicality...
