The spirit that I think you are talking about is the life force we share with the animals. We all have the same spirit that returns to God when we die.
Ecc 3:19 For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity.
Ecc 3:20 All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.
Ecc 3:21 Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down into the earth?
Ecc 8:8 No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death.
Ecc 12:7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

the spirit is the living core,the real us.all else is temporal and will be discarded.
the spirit alone started its journey from paradise as an unconscious spirit germ.we then left paradise to gain consciousness on earth.but before we got to earth,we pass through various planes.
we first passed through the animistic realm where we took an animistic cloak,ethereal real and took their cloak,astral and then finally earth!
in reality,we have four cloaks covering the spirit.

adam and eve were clothed into skins
i read that as they were clothed in flesh
if you see a developing fetus you see the platlet fold arrounf and join into the midline ,a cleft palate for egsample is not completed that process of total enfoldment
regardless we have our spirit as adam and eve did clothed in flesh ,our spirit is eternal
our soul is our astral body ,the sum of our life experience ,when we die if we are over ego our spirit is born again into the true heavens and hells according to our love of others or the love of our self
those who love the self are trapped in thier souls in the astral plain till it is ready to decide to go to the spirit heaven and hell as decided on the astral plain
those who believe are at death transphfered in to spirit
the spirit belongs to god
thats why d-evil wants to buy your soul that where they can keep your astral spirit as long as they have you fooled ,into believing lies ,
once the truth sets your soul free then you are into the truth ,of
spirituality is awarness and knowing of the spitit as a reality ,
dependant on your belief
