30 pounds by Christmas is a tall order, but you *can* start losing:

Do:
- Eat several small meals each day, instead of one or two large ones. Eat a balanced diet, concentrating on veggies, fruits, and whole grains especially. Watch the fat and sugar intake.
- Cut out the soda - even diet soda. Drink more water, milk (regular/soy/rice milk), or occasional 100% juice.
- Walk more. Take the stairs at work, instead of the elevator. Go for a walk during breaks at work. Don't find the closest parking spot when shopping - be willing to walk a little. When you have more time, walk for 30 minutes at a good pace.
- Drink plenty of water. If you think you're hungry, drink a glass of water first. If you are truly hungry, then you still will be 20 minutes later. I find this this keeps me from eating out of boredom.

Don't:
- Starve yourself (your body will start conserving fat if you do that, and make it harder to lose)
- Take diet pills (they don't work in the long-term, and can be potentially dangerous)
- Rush into a stenuous workout regimen (too hard to stick with, and you might hurt yourself).

You'd be surprised how fast you lose weight.

...Aren't you the one I just finished answering how to get clients for a personal training business? Sweetheart, if you really have any education about human metabolism and nutrition, you'd know that this can't be done without sacrificing the health of your client (I'm assuming this advice isn't for yourself). This doesn't mean that you have to turn your client away--just be honest with her. A one to two pound loss a week is all that you should reasonably expect, and there's nothing wrong with this relatively slow pace. If she's to keep it off, she has to make a lifestyle change that will ensure that healthy eating and physical excercise are part of her day to day routine. Otherwise, once she reaches her "ideal" weight, she'll slip back into what she considers as normal activity and wind up either right back where she started from... or worse off than before.

As a personal fitness trainer, you know that our commitment to our clients is to be as accurate and honest as we can be about the information we give them. People will always approach you with unrealistic goals--they want their results yesterday, not in a collection of months or years! It's our job to tell them what we can reasonably expect to do and why it has to be this way, while at the same time trying to keep them motivated enough to make the first step. It's a tough balancing act, sure, but it can be done.

Thirty pounds by Christmas is VERY ambitious. I tried the South Beach Diet to control my cholesterol and had great weight loss success with it. My doctor ok'd it. You have to stick with it though. Best thing about it was that I never felt hungry. It's also a great diet if you like cooking. Buy the book or check it out from the library. It's not a FAD diet but rather one that tries to sensibly approach eating the right foods.

well i definitely think you should of thought of this earlier...now its too late your gonna panic...you'll probably be busy with the shopping anyways and decoration and so on...we do this all the time. ''oh my god two months to lose thirty pounds its not impossible...all you got to do is start with the short term goal...to lose 5 pounds a week sounds better than 30 in 45 days right...run or walk at least a mile 3 times a week and cut down on the sodas...make water your only drink and i bet you will succeed..

You can achieve anything you set your mind too. I am a social worker and wellness coach, I've seen many people lose weight by releasing toxins, which is a relatively new approach to losing weight and keeping it off. I recommend, the best product I found is Isagenix, its been on the news and is endorsed by many people in the health industry (mind and body). I am happy to help you reach your goals!

Cut down on your food intake, exercise, don't drink soda or other sugary drinks... drink lots of water! I lost about 20 pounds by just going for a 15 minute walk every day and drinking only water. Good luck.

My God please don't even try to do that. You will absolutely hurt your health by ruining your metabolism. You should NEVER try to lose more than two pounds a week!
I'm sorry but the only way to lose weight (SAFELY) is to cut back on your calories a LITTLE and moderately increase the amount of exercise you do. It takes time and you have to be VERY patient.

Cut your carbs and don't drink your calories. Excerise at least 30 minutes a day (cardio) but add weights a couple days as well. Oh and count calories too, Selfdietclub.com is excellent.
