Yes,Christians are to love all people, just as God loves them.
Atheists know our beliefs, and we are only doing more harm than good by constantly harping on them. They know where we stand, and we know where they stand. If there is any hope at all of changing their minds(though they have made it quite clear we can't change their minds) we have to be more tolerant and understanding with our questions and answers, not to mention a lot more respectful of their decision.
Atheists should likewise give Christians the same consideration. They get angry when we qoute Bible scriptures in our answers, but they have to realize that the Word of God is where we get our faith, beliefs and inspiration.

What possible reason could you have for asking such a question as that? Are you trying to talk yourself out of something, or convince others of something else? Are you even sure what you have heard is correct. Is there any slight possibility that you should be doing this all on simple blind faith because others want you to fit into the mold they have created for you? Or, are you doing some original thinking outside of the box that others have created for you to live within? Ah, I see... You think that you are the first and only one to ever have had these questions - that they are original and dreamed up by you and you alone. Come on. you gotta be kidding me.

The answer is Yes, in public; No in private. In general there is no rule, there is just this line in the sand that someone else drew. Are you going to toe that line, or jump over it? When you make the decision, will thunder roll, and lightning flash? Probably not.

Fair? Where did God say anything about matters between people on earth being fair?

The key is to love the sinner and hate the sin. The other equal key is to realize that I am a sinner as well, no different from an atheist except for my humility before God. And since I don't deserve God's grace, as none of us do, I am in no better position than the atheist except to say that I am better off, having accepted God's gift of grace, which he offers to us all.

We must Love each other and be patient as God is with us.

Because our sins or sins and does not please our Father does not mean he has lost love for you.

Those sins are keeping from knowing the real truth, that's why the devil loves it.

God loves you the same yesterday, today, and even till the end of times. God Bless. Love.
