I might lean towards alcohol being the harder of these three to quit because many smokers have a psychological component to their addiction in that they often think that either smoking isn't that big a deal or that they are some how in control of their addiction and could quit if they wanted to. Alcoholics or narcotic addicts seem to be generally aware of their problem even if they are unwilling to do anything about it.

Food addiction is psychological - You enjoy it and want to do it more Cigarette addiction is physical - It alters your brain chemistry. Both addictions can be hard to escape, but only the physical addiction will cause actual side effects. Cigarettes are harder to quit, but food is something you're more likely to ignore as an addiction.

Nicotine ranks right up there with many narcotics! The level of dependency varies with the individuals genetic make-up! ;_0=

Nicotine has been shown in labarotory rats to be more addictive than heroin. There is a new medication called CHANTIX that may help with breaking this addiction. It is available with a prescription.

I think it depends on the person. I work in healthcare so I see all of the narcotic addicts.

All the opiates are the hardest...so heroine and morphine. Then nicotine is the next hardest but for different reasons.
