You don't let go of "hurt" because it isn't hurt. It's anger, sadness and possibly anxiety. You forgive by realizing that you're no better than anyone else in this world, and you also make mistakes. You forgive because it gives you grace and this is a beautiful state of being.

You share the hurt with others and it leaves you ....share.....for give.....and you will give them your hurt and they will give you comfort and you will give them comfort and they will give you hurt....etc etc etc. We are all parts of God and together we share our hurts making them far more bearable. But if you give your hurt to someone who is not capable of sharing it, then you must wait longer for the comfort to come. If you need comfort, you need to share your hurt with someone who can feel your pain so to speak. It is not a waste to share your hurt with someone who cannot comfort, just don't expect comfort if they are not ready to give it yet. They must work their way through denial. Peter denied knowing Christ 3 times for instance, when Christ was hurting. Just an example from the Bible. The epitamy of sharing is apostleship. Then you forgive over and over. The apostles forgave Jesus comfort when he wasnt getting comfort elsewhere and by building his spiritual ego built a healer as he asked them who they thought he was when he questionned it. Forgiveness...more than saying somebody is sorry......
