If they do not believe in gift giving then why does my neighbor (who continually puts Jehovah witnesses literature on my door) wear a huge diamond ring on her wedding ring finger? Obviously she did not buy if for herself, and you would think that it is putting emphasis on something other than Jehovah right? I am interested in what other people think about this.

I am not jealous of that girl or anything, I am just curious about their religion. I wrote "a huge diamond ring" meaning, something quite flashy for people who do not celebrate certian holidays.
If they can celebrate thier anniversary then why can't they celebrate mothers day or fathers day? What is the difference?
Obviously a wedding ring is given for a reason, not just as a "just a gift" purpose.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I give and get gifts all the time.
Where is it written that gifts are only gifts if they are given for a holiday?
The only day I won't give my wife flowers in on Valentines Day.
I try to give her flowers, at least once a month.
Especially when she is not expecting them, because that gives her greater joy.
Don't confuse gift giving with pagan holidays.

Back in the days of the early Israelites, for example the days of Jeroboam, 1 kings 12:36; 2 Chronciles 11: 13-15. This inregards to the festivals the Israelites were having were not approved by God.
Jeroboam tried to give the new religion an air of respectability. He arranged for observances somewhat similar to the festivals held in Jerusalem. Read 1 Kings 12:32. It says how Jeroboalm went to make a festival.
God never approved of such false religious fesrtivals.
According to Amos 5:21-24, God said I have hated, I have rejected your festivals, and I shall not enjoy the smell of your solemn assemblies.
The present day parallels, clearly God examined the hearts of those engaging in Israel's festivals and rejected their observances and offerings.
Similarly today, God rejects Christendom's pagan celebrations, such as Christmas and Easter. For worshipers of Jehovah there can be no partnership between righteousness and lawlessness, no fellowship between light and darkness. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16.
Pagan Holidays.

we as Jehovah Witnesses do not celebrate any pagan holidays. we do celebrate anniversary and we do give gifts to our children and our spouses. we don't have to wait for a reason to give gifts. we do it because we love each other and our families. some Jehovah Witnesses do have money and most don't. we pay bills just like anyone else. we also have problems like anyone else also. Jesus Christ went to a wedding and turned water into wine for the family. do you love your parents one day a year or 365 days. we love our parents everyday.

It sounds like you're mixing apples and oranges here. In the Bible there were those who were well off and others who were rich. For instance there was King Solomon, one of the richest men on earth. He was blessed by God with EVERYTHING! Then there was Abraham, who was very well off. So what is the deal here? Sounds like there some jealousy going on. No where in the Bible does God's word say anything about giving a gift. Jesus gave the gift of wine at a wedding. God himself is the one who instituted the arrangement of marriage. So I think you need to really look inside yourself and see exactly what is motivating you to ask such a question.

Well the equal method that we have got a private title and could love to be referred to as by means of our title as an alternative of Man, Woman, Boy & so forth is the equal method that God feels. Psalms eighty three:18 says "May persons recognise that you just, whose title is Jehovah,You by myself are the Most High over the entire earth." The indisputable fact that his title is acknowledged within the Bible suggests God wishes his title to be recognized & in view that we're his witnesses or fans, we're referred to as Jehovah's Witnesses.
