Calories alone are worse. When you only need 1200 per day and ya eat 1500 it doesn't matter. Much celery and Carrots to you. You burn more calories eating celery than it gives you.

a calorie is just a measurement of food requirements. say you need 2000 calories a day to keep the same weight. what the calorie consists of is not all that important. except that you can eat very little fat as it is very high in calories where as lettuce is very low and you can eat a lot , that is what salads , fruit and veg's are recommended on weight loss rather than donuts chips and hamburgers. Get your self a calorie counting book, they are not expensive the second hand book stores are full of them . Look up all sorts of different foods and you will understanding what I am talking about. then find out how many calories you need and take off 500 calories to loose weight. so if you need 1800 calories to maintain your weight you should consume 1300 to loose weight. hope this helped

Calories are calories, no matter where they come from. They problem with fat is that they're WASTED calories--they don't give you energy like carbs or rebuild muscle like protein.
Any calories over your daily needs, no matter where they come from--yes, even from a carrot--will make you gain weight. Count every calorie. If you don't, you may just overeat non-fat calories and end up heavier than you were when you started.
But still do avoid fats. They're still bad for you, lol.
P.S. to Love: 3500 calories burned is a pound. Not 500.

First, there are saturated and unsaturated fats. You want little to no saturated fats in your diet and some unsaturated fats. You need the unsaturated fats to help your heart stay healthy.
As far as calories, instead of counting calories, learn to sip water between each bite, and then savor every bite, chewing it 15-20 times. Then, stop eating when you no longer feel hunger pangs. Don't wait until you are full. You will lose weight and stay slim for life.

a calorie is just a measurement of energy. here is how calories are broken down for food:
1 g of protein = 4 cals
1 g of carbohydrate = 4 cals
1 g of fat = 9 cals
so fat is the greatest contributor of calories.
therefore, 250 cals from a fruit salad is much better that 100 cals from bacon.
don't just look at the calorie total of food, look at what is making those cals up: fat, protein, carbs.
you want minimal fat, moderate carbs, and max protein.

Calories are calories. Fat calories may just fill you up less, so you'll be hungry sooner. Also, 500 calories is not a pound. It's 2000

Calories in calories out! Im an industrial worker, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds and eat a huge amount of mostly fatty food just to maintain my weight. Hell yesterday for dinner I had 6 or 7 slices of pizza, a foot long cheesesteak and 2 orders of fries and like 5 beers and thats one meal out of like 5 for me! I eat well over 7,000 calories a day of "bad" food but I dont gain. Im not fat but Im not thin either but as long as you burn it off like I do just doing alot of physical work you wont gain weight but its still bad for your arteries.

I always believed that calories are the same, no mater what the source. Calories measure the energy content of food, and to loose weight you need to burn more energy than you take in. Taking in more calories than you burn will put on weight, no mater what the source of the calories was.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).
I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)

Count both-depends on gender, body frame, and height on how much you should be getting. It think it's like...burn 500 calories off and it's like losing a pound, i think. Just count both-there's websites to go to that can help you-ediets.com, webmd.com, or my fave sparkpeople.com
good luck!
p.s. exercise!! 30 min of cardio, walk/run will GREATLY benefit you!
I knew I was off!! lol Wonder why 500 came to mind
