She tells me her belief of being judged twice is because of how we are told when someone dies they are in Jesus' loving arms, etc. It doesn't make sense to me, but what's your take on this?

That come from a concept of God as condemor. I do not support this theory. God did not make us t hate ans condem us. I truly doubt God wishes to spend a hole bunch of time rehashing our mistakes even once let alone twice.

We will have to answer for our unreconciled wrongs but scripture also says if you have forgiveness your sins are forgotten.

When you die you know where you will end up thus there is no real judgement for you. Judgement day is more like Sentencing Day. God knows where you will go and so will you. It's not like some big surprise. Why would you be judged twice...it's not like you are going to get better or worse after you die. You stay in whatever state you were in when you die. If you were evil then you will be in one part if you were good you would be in another part. Then on Judgement Day you will go to heaven or hell.
Look at Lasarus and the rich man. Lasarus was in Abraham's busom and the rich man was across the gulf. So, in essence he is waiting for hell and Lasarus is waiting on heaven. The gulf divides them until. Hope that helped

Many philosophers say this: That human unfastened will and God's capacity of Omnipotence are never like minded and the two won't be able to exist interior the comparable universe. If unfastened Will is relatively unfastened our alternatives won't be in a position to have already been desperate via destiny. The way forward for the universe is for this reason as much as us, and not in all probability predictable even via god. Philosophers have got here upon quite a loophole in this, albeit an ordinary one. -- this is that if for each choise we make 2 (or greater) universes are created, one for if we had made on determination, one for if we had made the different. One universe for in case you had desperate to have a drunken taking photos spree interior the Vatican, one for in case you desperate to take a seat down at residing house and watch television. God can understand all of those universes and we are able to nevertheless have unfastened will - in a manner. If ... on the different hand God is familiar with each and every thing and we don't have unfastened will there is yet another bugger of a situation - this is that judgement would possibly no longer be a threat. think of roughly it this way... in case you bypass on a taking photos spree on the Vatican on Tuesday (while youngsters, nuns and pregnant ladies get in unfastened) yet you DONT have unfastened will then replaced into it your fault? how are you able to blame an act one somebody in the event that they don't have unfastened will? it relatively is like calling a rockslide evil for crushing some automobiles. in case you have been fated to do something YOU did no longer do it - your undesirable upbringing, drug intake, manic depressive chemical recommendations imbalance could nicely be blamed yet no longer YOU. you haven't any longer have been given unfastened will and for this reason do issues basically because of the fact exterior forces are pushing and pulling you. yerr. So... except god can get around good judgment a approach or the different - which via ways the pope says he won't be in a position to - NO! he won't be in a position to choose us on the day while the ineffective upward thrust toddler! - additionally - conundrum creaps me out. whew.

Paul says that when we die we become like on asleep. We will be judged twice on judgment day: the first judgment will be whether or not we sinned, the Bible is clear that all have sinned and therefore guilty on this point; the second judgment will be whether or not we believed in Christ and lived according to His example, a good way to know is if one has the Holy Spirit.

There are 2 judgments. One for the saved and one for the lost.
The saved will be judged according to their good/bad works after their salvation. The lost will be judged because of their rejection of God, and not for their good/bad deeds. No human is judged twice.

Have your mother back this up with scripture from the KJV.

She CAN'T do it. For a reason. Pure and simple.

P.S. Don't confuse Judgment Day (Great White Throne) with the "Judgment Seat of Christ.

FIRST of all, Christians are not "judged" for their salvation. We are "judged" now.

Good Question/statement.

read the book for yourself. sounds like she assumes more authority than she has.

my take for christians, we are judged whether we accept Jesus or not, second what we do with that belief says how we spend eternity not where.

I say ask God. He'll tell you.
