Yes, it's good. If it were a $50-$75 bottle of champagne, it would almost be worth it. I had some recently and at around $200 a bottle, it's incredibly overpriced. I prefer a nice J Schram or a vintage Veuve Cliquot over spending that kind of money for a mediocre champagne.

Vintage is everything and dictates the price as well. 1990 was an excellent year, as was 1996 and 1985 for champagne. Cristal is a little over-rated and thus the price is jacked up accordingly. For a 1990, expect to pay around $300-$400 bottle. Dom Perignon was a 17th century Monk who was the first person to successfully ferment the Chardonnay grape and produce champagne, so Dom gets a little over-rated as well. A couple of outstanding champagnes are: James Bond's favorite champagne, Bollinger R.D. (recently disgorged) from 1990 and one of the best champagnes ever: Pol Roger cuvee Sir Winston Churchill. You can get the 1990 for about $150 and it will "kill" any other champagne anyone else brings to the table.
A Bientot!

Years ago, Roeder produced some of the best champagnes. They produce a lot more Cristal now and it is NOT the same quality it used to be. I would select Krug instead.

Just like any consumable, it depends on your taste. Depending on the vintage Cristal has been good to very good. If you place it in a line up of other sparkling wines over $100 in my opinion it wouldn't show very well. But BOY-O-BOY did Jay-Z make it seem really cool to drink didnt he.

In my opinion it is very over rated. For around $250.00 a bottle it better keep me buzzed for 3 days and pour itself. I manage a liquor store and it is very obvious that when stars sing about certain products, they soar in populatity!!! If you are looking for a good champagne I would suggest Veuve Cliquot (apx.$40.00), Perriet Jouet (apx.$125.00). or Moet Nectar Rose (apx.$35.00). All of these are very much so worth the money and in my opinion taste 100 times better than Cristal.

Yeah, it's good. It's VERY expensive though! We paid like 200 bucks, but there's a knock-off version also made by the same people! It was only like 60 bucks...Dom P. is the all time best in my opinion!!! I'll be chillin with the Dom this Sat. for my 21st!

In my opinion it's seriously over-rated. I'd much rather have a nice cold glass of Chablis.
