Quite the opposite, my friend. You cannot be a Christian unless you have the courage to look at the filth everyone has inside and admit that we cannot do anything about it. It's those people who walk around thinking that there's nothing wrong with them that have the problems. That is why Jesus came, so He could deal with this stuff. You talk about people coming off of drink and drugs. I know of people who came of of them overnight because of The Holy Spirit. You talk about people who can't handle life. Show me one person outside of Christ who truly can. We cannot handle life ourselves, but we trust God, who can, and does. Because of what Christ has done for us, we are not bound to old habits and addictions. Because of what The Holy Spirit does in us, we are transformed and are life conquerors rather than life victims. Everything in our lives works to our favour, because we trust in God and He loves us. As far as dumping troubles on an organization is concerned, we hand our troubles to Jesus, who tells us not to be anxious about anything. Through Him, we can face anything, even death, without fear. I'm not knocking non-believers, but they seem to have an unreal idea about how much they are in control of their lives. Christian community is all about caring for one another in a non-judgemental way. It is about building each other up, about encouraging one another to be more than we ever thought we were capable of. More loving, more caring, more merciful, more forgiving.

The thing is, under the belief that they have, they are actually behaving ethically correctly. For a Christian who has genuinely experienced God, it becomes a defining truth in their lives.
If their belief is misplaced, the adequacy of the actions in the world is of dubious standing; however, determining or disproving such validity is not so obvious.
If you're determined to stop them, finding a replacement for God will always have to be your key aim, which in turn places a dilemma on us as to whether we must then prozealotise on behalf of this alternative. Who knows; this may, in the Abrahamic religions, already have happened.

I am A Christian Myself, but I had Jehovah's Witnesses come to my house to day to tell me that all Gays and Lesbians are Unholy and all the other Religions that let them get married or get ordained are False. I am SO angry. How dare they judge?!?! and then they said that we are all wrong because we are at war and should not hate others! and yet they just condemned gay's and Lesbians to hell! hypocryts the lot of them!
on the other hand, I don't know about the drugs and stuff, i just don't think they have the right to tell me what God does and does not want, how do they know? nor should they be trying to force their practices on me by telling me that all other religions are "false" everyone has a right to worship god in their own way, and i am sure, that as long as they are worshiping him, he doesn't really care how its done.
It doesn't matter whether you are protestant, catholic, baptist or weslian. if you belive in god you are the same religion. it doesn't matter how you worship Him.
and everyone has a right to their opinion, so if someone doesn't believe in God, let them be, you won't change their mind's by spouting the bible at them, it'll only piss them off and they'll decide we're all trying to shut them up and repress their right to believe what they want.

The Church can be a wonderful support network for vulnerable people or it can be manipulated into a banner for all sorts. People with bad intentions use whatever tools they can find to control others. God's the easiest because no-one wants to go to Hell. If you go back to the teachings of Jesus they talk only of love and peace, a bit shmaltzy but innately benign.
Human nature gets in the way i guess and gives us smug born again christians that you want to jab in the eye with a compass.
The thing i hate the most are the fish they stick on their cars. Holy holy holy aren't we smug and going to Heaven in our cars!

Christians say that to help those less fortunate is a kind of love. Jesus displayed this love by opening wide his arms on the cross and dying so that the sins of man should be forgiven. Now that is love! To die for people you don't know. To show that i am a follower of Christ crucified I forgive you for this insulting question.Nor will I report you as a previous answerer has already done it!

The thing about born again christians is that they are an even bigger pain in the ar*e the second time around. Sanctimonious, feeble minded, monomaniacal and have a great deal of sub acute psychotic tendencies. I am an ex-christian who does not want to know any more. Do not tell me you will pray for me, you are using prayer as a weapon of manipulation if you do that. If you have to pray for me and you think that it works, there is no need to tell me is there?

Actually, Christians are always telling eachother to make sure their testimonies are making sense w/ what they say. I think you should look a little more into it before you make such a bold statement. There's even a verse in the Bible that tells us to take out the plank in our eye before helping our brother take out the speck in their eye. Next time, my advice is, if you're gonna ask a question, ASK it; don't make statements when you don't fully understand things.

I totaly agree with you...Christianity is not for perfect people, it's not for the intellectuals, or the the rich or famous.
Christianity is for the broken people, the poor, the prostitutes, the gluttons, the perverts, the heathens, the murderes, the prisoners and the diseased.
Thats why Jesus hung out with hookers and IRS agents, and sinners like me. The sinners were humble enough to say that, "I am weak, I am human, and I need something to believe in."

I tell you the truth. I am a born again, baptist in the Holy Ghost, child of God who dumps her problems on no one except the GREAT I AM, Jesus Christ himself who died to take all sins, burdens, etc.. from those who realize that they have a great need! And I assure you no one, no not one is without sin. The bible make that very clear accept this and accept Jesus into your heart than you will burn. I hate it I pray that you wont.. but that is a fact... take it or leave it.
