I am going to make a presentation and I need to take one minute clips of four songs and put them in order on one disc. I don't know what type of software I need to do this.

For a free solution give Audacity a whirl:

Make working copies of the tracks, so you don't spoil the originals, then chop them up with Goldwave http://www.goldwave.com and shape the volume of each clip if you choose so there isn't a hard entry and exit.

Goldwave rocks - pro level sound editor which has, I think, a trial version. You might need to download the LAME MP3 codec - details on the Goldwave site.
