My aunt disappeared in 1991, we filed a missing persons report, and the case has gone cold. No body was ever recovered, but the man she was traveling with is now in prison for another murder. He claims he never knew my aunt, but we know that he did. We are unsure what state they might have been in when he killed her (Which we're sure is what happened). Where could I start to try to get her case reopened? I know there are a lot of "Jane Does" in the system and I feel like maybe she could be one of them, and investigators are too busy to consider it..

My mom's baby sister is missing- that IS pretty dramatic. Sorry for not asking about what color your poop was this morning or something that might have been more amusing to you ;) Did you finish your homework, young lady??

Check with your state's Attorney General's office or the State Police to see if they have a "Cold Case Squad." If they do, you can connect with them and provide what information you can and see if it assists them in moving towards a solution.

Sometimes television stations will take interest in cold cases and do a short story on it to see if it would spur more information.

Try the police angle first.

Contact the law enforcement agency in your area and insist they re-open the case in light of the new discovery of the murder with her travel companion. They will (hopefully) look to the states she traveled to and was murdered. sorry and good luck.
