Here in the real world we can see that intelligence is a product of growth and learning and development. It's a measure of how well we apply what we have learned from the past to situations we are dealing with in the present. Even if you don't accept that human intelligence is the result of 4 billion years or so of evolution, it's still clearly the case that a new born baby is pretty clueless, and only becomes intelligent over the years by learning from experience.
Theists assert that an intelligent god exists, fully formed, from nothing, with no history, no growth, no learning from experience, no development of any sort. I would like to hear someone explain the nature of that intelligence such that it can exist without experience and without even the passage of time. What does intelligence mean, if not the ability to apply what we've learned from experience, and thus requiring development and the passing of time?
All intelligent answers welcome! ;-)

Sandy: OK, but that doesn't really tell me much and it doesn't convince me that you know anything about it either. It just sounds evasive...

Interesting.
I agree with you whole heartedly as an atheist myself.
But, to defend the Xtian mindset a little (just for the sport of it):
God is omniscient: all knowing. So that means He knows what you, I, and every other scholar in the world knows. So, He just leaches off of our knowledge.
Considering that the Xtian God is not on a linear timeline, He is omni-present, He knew the stuff we know now, and everything else that has ever been learned in the past or will be learned in the future.
So, He knew everything at the same time as knowing nothing!
I think I just gave myself a headache.

It's called a mystery. God, not god, has always existed. I'd like to ask you a question. Maybe you should study proteins and amino acids. Just that proves that the universe did not suddenly create itself. Or that the planets and the sun and life started with a big BANG!
The probability of forming a protein necessary for life in the right order is a 1 in 10 to the 152, or a one followed by 152 zeros. That's just for the first three amino acids in a ribonuclease. Now this protein is a simple protein. The proteins in our bodies contain more than 10,000 amino acids. It is so ridiculous to assume that this all happened by chance. This is just a scientific reason to believe in God.
I just learned this in biology. Maybe you should do some more research on this topic. Remember, evolution is only a THEORY. It is not proven, and actually, many scientists--who are not religious--have come to the conclusion that there is an intelligent designer. We call Him God Almighty.

I am disappointed to see someone as "smart" as you are to be asking this question. Obviously, you want an answer not from a Christian perspective, therefore you say "intellegent answers welcome." Correct me if I'm wrong.
God is everything. He created everything as well. You could say that He created people after creating animals as the way of learning from experience. You could say that He created the organisms, from simplest to most complex, in that order, just like you could say that we ultimately evolved from the simplest organisms. But God does have experience, but He only knows how long He has existed (eternity, but not a definite number of years. It is only eternity because when we try to think about time before time itself, we are intellectually confused.) So therefore, during that time, He was "learning" (you could say), and thinking about all the knowledge He already had. He only applied it (again, He only knows when) when He created everything.
Not what you are looking for? Add some details, I'll look back at this question.

I will try to give an intelligent answer, the kind of intelligence that exist out of nothing is ; intelligent in itself! All we live in l see ; feel ; have , all was created by an Intelligent Being, what man does is impro what already is to his convimnience. Can man make the stars in the firmament? Can man create the sun , or planets m, oceans , animals , all we can do is travel to those planets , surely soon, but the planets are there! In Genesis is a coded wording of creation, in all primitives peoples there is ingrained a belief in a Supreme Being , by as many names , images , rituals one can think of, certainly we are the Essence of the Creator, by any name you wish! This by the way is not the only REAL world! There is a spiritual world closely to this one! hugs.

I think that if you think of that intelligence as the force of the universe itself then you would see that it had MUCH longer than 4 billion years of evolution. When I say universe I also include the things outside of it. Remember: human perception and tools are limited. There are dimensions that we cannot study yet, maybe we can find the universal intelligence there.

It is intelligence that surpasses human understanding. And because it exists outside of time and space, it is something that we, by necessity, cannot begin to grasp, our being currently limited and confined by these constraints that are by their nature dimming and oppressive.
--
Well, duh. That is my whole point. I'm not explaining it to you because (a) I'm not it and (b) I am within the time-space continuum myself, and like you, temporally and temporarily existing with a big fat wedge driven between myself and the divine--and therefore I CAN'T explain it.
That's all I'm saying. It is not being evasive when I tell you, "I don't really understand God's fully formed, nonhistorical, nondevelopmental intelligence." It is being what is called honest. If I had the answer, mi amigo, I'd totally lay it on you. I'm not evading the answer. I don't have it. Moreover, no one here does. It's great and all that you're seeking to answer it, and I wish you best in your search, but you're going to have to seek God, not people...and perhaps God will reveal bits and pieces to you if you seek him in earnestness and humility.

in the book A Conversation with God it speaks about this
how an all powerful being can be perfect without experience
and it suggests that God experiences through us ... that is part of our purpose of living a physical life , instead of remaining in spirit realms where we are supposed to be
so this life is not only for our own experiences and development , but for Gods also
well worth a read for another perspective on things xx

who said that i was intelligent?
it could simply be a force or entity that exists on natural laws. Those laws required the formation of physical objects and set an order to their progress.
who said a Creator has to be thinking and feeling?

i think of God (as a well-known capability of sensible layout) certainly has come from something ... I additionally think of that once people are able to apply a bigger p.c. of our brains.....we are able to have extra solutions. Einstein makes some somewhat stable factors approximately capability, how approximately that? We overlook from time to time the techniques that are elementary to comprehend yet annoying to contain into daily existence. (I easily have faith that capability is a non-supply up bypass - even after it leaves it somewhat is 'shell' (our bodies) and it will proceed to return and forth into eternity (our soul is that capability) this would be a scientific thought. God is a ideal mixture and we will not particularly fathom the writer of the writer yet who's to declare there's no longer one?
