Okay, so here's what I don't get. God picks the children of Abraham as his chosen people, then gives them Israel and goes through a few thousand years of their continuous rebellion/persecution/repentance.
While this is going on, the Greeks pop up, and despite being primarily polytheistic manage to form democratic society, powerful and profound abstract philosophy, open and competitive sport and business and the underlying structure of the sciences and mathematics. Their influence on Rome and on foreign culture through the expansion of Alexander the Great would later provide the backbone needed by the Evangelical Christian movement of the early centuries.
How did the Hellenists (note; this means Greek, rather than people going to Hell, just to clarify) manage to accomplish so much relative to the Israelites if it was the latter that God chose to grant with his blessing?

The thing is, Greece shows what humans were capable of while simultaneously being spiritual. They had a devotion to their own religions and customs, and these did not stop them from doing so much in the way of human societal development and the realm of critical thinking. Why didn't the Israeli people, blessed by God, do just as much with the spirituality they had? That's what I want to know.

I know it's not directly related to the question, but it's useful to realise that the Greeks' view of God had a huge impact on the monotheistic faiths. I'm currently reading A History of God by Karen Armstrong, which details how the Greek philosophers' attempt to define God affected early Christianity as well as Islam and Judaism. Fascinating.

good. From a undemanding aspect of view that is monotheistic (one god) vs polytheistic (plural gods). there is a good number of scholarly and historic crap i might want to kind besides the undeniable fact that the basics are, some concern concerns were given translated by diverse people, morphed and translated some extra and finally developed into Abrahamic religions. Early Judaism and Christianity developed on the time even as polytheistic faiths were the numerous religions. Many early Abrahimic texts were written in Greek and Roman languages in view that those individuals ruled on the prompt. a lot of what replaced into written replaced into re-utilized and translated to duplicate the single god view. finally the Romans determined "we are all going to be Christians yet Judaism is cool too. All that different stuff replaced into outlawed." Then years later the following comes Muhammad putting forward "valuable attempt, yet you adult adult males screwed that up, that is what extremely befell." Then there is a few extra tweaking and arguing to finally get the jumble of religions we've on the prompt. besides the undeniable fact that an similar concern concerns are nonetheless there, purely relies upon on the way you've faith it.

Both cultures have made profound impacts on society, as a whole.
Greece is world-renowned for it's history & it's devotion to beauty while Israel is known for introducing a monotheistic religion as well as some of the most productive people in the world.
Both have added immeasurable strengths & talents to the World, as a whole.

[016:120] Verily, Ibrâhîm (Abraham) was an Ummah (a leader having all the good righteous qualities, or a nation), obedient to Allâh, Hanîf (i.e. to worship none but Allâh), and he was not one of those who were Al-Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, and those who joined partners with Allâh).
[016:121] (He was) thankful for His (Allâh's) Favours. He (Allâh) chose him (as an intimate friend) and guided him to a Straight Path (Islâmic Monotheism – neither Judaism nor Christianity).
[016:122] And We gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he shall be of the righteous.
[016:123] Then, We have sent the Revelation to you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] saying): "Follow the religion of Ibrâhîm (Abraham) Hanîf (Islâmic Monotheism – to worship none but Allâh) and he was not of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers).
[016:124] The Sabbath was only prescribed for those who differed concerning it, and verily, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they used to differ.
Whatever the Greeks did what happened to it? Why did this happen?
[019:074] And how many a generation (past nations) have We destroyed before them, who were better in wealth, goods and outward appearance?
[019:075] Say (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]): Whoever is in error, the Most Gracious (Allâh) will extend (the rope) to him, until, when they see that which they were promised, either the torment or the Hour, they will come to know who is worst in position, and who is weaker in forces. [This is the answer to the question in Verse No.19:73]
[019:076] And Allâh increases in guidance those who walk aright. And the righteous good deeds that last are better with your Lord for reward and better for resort.

they accomplished so much in the eyes of men. whilst they were advancing their lives in a way that was displeasing to God, the israelites were worshipping Him according to his laws. in the end, which is more important?

Because he doesn't exist. But if you're looking for what god was thinking. God was pleased with the Greeks also supporting his wife, cousins, brothers and sisters.
