My brother's cellphone was stolen from school today. He's writing exams and it's school policy not to allow students to keep their phones on them, to prevent cheating. They have a "system" where the device gets a stick-on label with the student's name on it, gets signed in and is put in a box which is supposedly supervised by the teacher. Once the exam was over, the phone was missing, meaning someone signed out 2 handsets.
I do not blame my brother, as he was simply following school rules...
My question is, should i hold the teacher/school responsible, as someone was obviously negligent?

I agree that cell phones have no place in the classroom. However, when the school decided to put a system in place to hold cell phones for students, they took that responsibility from the student. If the school had an absolute policy to not allow cell phones then they would have no responsibility to replace or even care that your brother had his stolen. Since they did implement a system to "hold" them for students, then they are accountable for the phone while it was in their possession.

I honestly don't think that ANY phones, or devices should be allowed in any school, except for medical emergency reasons-ONLY! What purpose does a cell phone serve in school, if one is not allowed to use it while there? School is supposed to be for learning, and NOT playing on the taxpayers dime! We have enough CROOKS running around, just take a look at any politician. And, you show me one who isn't a crook, and I'll show you a bear that doesn't @#$% in the woods!

No, that is the guy's that stole your telephone fault. The coverage won't be able to be a clean progression and also you're attentive to the probability linked with leaving your telephone unsecured even as people have get good of entry to to the bin in which it replaced into saved. you should have left it at residing house for checks.

Being that it was the schools policy and they did not exercise ordinary care in preventing the theft, yes they are responsible.

it is partly both of their faults
1) the teacher should have watched the phones more closely
2) your brother could have left it on his locker and locked his locker
