No. Plenty of volunteers are available. Not to mention a draft outside of invasion or imminent danger would tear the country to shreds.

First, I believe everyone living in our nation owes some service to our nation. Second, if there are not enough people volunteering for service, then the nation should impose the draft.

If the dumb voters would elect the right people war and the draft would be obsolete. Look at Switzerland, right in the middle of 2 world wars and never lost a soldier. Yeah those people know how to vote.

1. A country whose citizens don't care enough about it to be willing to fight for it does not deserve to survive. Spartans used to say "With your shield or on it", later on the custom died out, so did Sparta.
2. In my 20 years of Naval service I had occasion to work with draftees and they were rarely valuable assets, they tended to be unmotivated, resentful, and uncaring about the mission. The service is better off without people like that.

No, not yet. If we need more troops in the future then who knows. Most of the people who are on this just scared of dieing. After answering a question like this, you should remember to thank a military member that joined by choice, so you have the choice not to.

yes very definitely, even our forefathers warned us about a professional armed forces, because when our armed forces are strictly volunteer, it would be easier for our gov, to entice them to fire on their own people, in a volunteer military the officers especially could be brain washed to easily and convinced to fight our civilians as the are professional soldiers, and have been taught that the gov, knows best, propaganda and enticement is a very powerful weapon, and I sure would not want to risk it, J,F,K,
sent troops to Ark, in the 50s which is against our constitution-as our armed forces are to never go against its own people,
would they have fired on their own people or not??
also every one should serve in the military just i case they were needed in a hurry, it should be compulsory
