I recently got my belly button pierced, about 2 months ago. everything was fine for a while. i play basketball, so i kind of get knocked around and hit where the ring is and sweat there also.
HOWEVER, starting about a week ago, my belly button ring has been hurting a lot and has been red. i put some antibacterial stuff on it, but it didn't work.
NOW it's really dry and the skin holding in the belly button ring seems to have shrunk..meaning that it's now really really thin and i'm terrified that the ring will break through the skin.
i took it out now, but i know it will close in soon.
WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!

Leave the ring out and go see the doctor. Yes, the hole will heal closed and it really needs to. You need to be sure that the infection has not spread any further than the skin and that it is going away. No need to be embarassed, you won't be the first to have a belly button piercing gone bad and won't be the last. I won't give you the whole lecture, although you might prepare yourself because the doctor likely will. It's a danger of getting the piercing, and you were one of the unlucky ones. It happens.
After it all heals, you can decide for yourself if you want to have it redone. I wouldn't recommend it, since there will be scar tissue in the area and that will make it harder to do. Plus if you are really sensitive to the metals in the ring, it will happen again. If you do decide to try anyway, be sure you find a reputable piercing shop to do it and have it done in very clean conditions. The abdomen is not a good place to have an infection get started.
You did right to remove the ring and treat it with the antibiotic ointment Now go see the doctor and get a professional opinion about what the next step should be.

That sometimes happens with navel & eye brow piercings.

If there is infection go to your dr and get a prescription for anti biotics.

Have you considered going back to where you got ur belly done? Its very possible you are allergic to the nickle in the bolt and may need to use surgical steel instead to go into your piercing.

Good luck with it :)

See a doctor. If the antibacterial "stuff" didn't work, you may need antibiotics by mouth.

Sounds like your body rejected the piercing and started pushing it out. I know someone who had a nipple piercing and her body rejected it and pushed it out. She now has a split nipple.
