I have never felt faith. It's not that I don't want to believe or that I am moral opposed to the concept of religion, but I have never felt a reason to believe in a higher being.

Religion started as a means to try and explain what was going on in the world around us, but in today's society that need no longer exists.

I do not consider myself an atheist. I am simply someone who isn't looking for answer's outside of my personal realm. I have so many things to explore in my own life, I want to focus on that, not on what I will do in the next one. I am open to all religions and faiths, and I like fundamental ideas from all of them. I choose not to be a practising member of no one religion because I do not have faith in anything outside of reality. I also have issues with the limited scope that most religions will accept, there is no room for personal movement or flow.

Thank you for asking this question pastor, and I hope that the answers you receive help you in your research.

The idea just doesn't sit well with me. The two other answers said no evidence, and intelligence, and those are both part of why I am an atheist. I just can't believe that there is a big guy in a white robe in the sky who cares what I do. (Don't get me wrong, I still believe in morality.) I think Jesus was a real man with some good ideas, but he was not divine. The Bible was written hundreds of years after the events it describes, and has been rewritten and edited countless times, how can I possibly believe it is the infallible truth? And if the Bible isn't true, I have no reason to believe in God, other than what other people say. But if they are just going on beliefs that have been passed down to them from other people (their parents or church), then I have no reason to believe them, either.
And to the person who said this question is offensive, grow up. The problem with religion is that people are too afraid to ask questions.

I've never believed, it was never a consious choice.

I was raised in a christian school, and have read/studied the bible extensively. Where some found answers, I found contradiction. Where some found truth, I found obfuscation. I began to delve into other faiths, as well as science. I began to see with regularity, many similarities from one faith to another, with the only difference being the delivery (for example, the story of Set and Osiris closely mirrors the Cain and Able tale...with only cultural differences). Even the highest tenant in most faiths was similar...for christians, its "Do unto others..." while many pagan faiths say "Do what you will, harm no one else". Regardless, I only found what can best be described as superstitious belief. Worse still, people within the same faith, can't agree on what their bible says or means.

In school, when we began studying science (evolution and the big bang), I began to find actual answers, and they could be proven. The teachers made an effort to relate the bible to the facts to the stories in the bible, but it never came across as anything other than them saying, "that's what the bible meant...we just didn't know any better". I watched the semantics games of the faithful, in an attempt to hold onto their belief, regardless of how much evidence to the contrary was presented. We all witness the number of problems in this world that can only be attributed to faith.

At the end of it all, logic won out in the battle of faith.

Hello Pastor, I am a Satanist, but I started out as an Athiest, and would be happy to tell you why.
The Earth according to carbon dating tells us that the age of our planet is 4.5 billon years old give or take a small percentage. After the Earth had formed its atmosphere it was toxic, and could not sustain Human life.
This contradicts the idea of the creation theory that your bible tells. Life existed in various other forms way before Man ever showed up, and yet Christianity just denies it and hides behind a little book, rather than admit its many flaws.
Christianity like Islam is a meme (sounds like dream) just type the word meme in your search bar, and even you may be surprised.
The idea that some mythological deity created all of this is quite absurd, and any logical person should know that.
Contrary to what many people think about Satanism, Satanists are rational hedonists who see themselves as Gods of their own lives, and take controll of it rather than put some "God" or "Devil" in charge.

Because there is no evidence of such, and I won't believe in anything without evidence. Noted Catholic theologian Hans Kung, in a huge book entitled Does God Exist?, examined the issue in excruciating detail, and concluded (correctly, in my view) that it was not possible to show, on the basis of evidence or logic, that God either does or does not exist. (He chooses to believe the affirmative, which, considering that he is a Catholic priest, is hardly surprising.) Since no theory of the existence of god, or the nonexistence, can possibly be refuted, it can be shown that all such theories are useless: they can predict nothing. Religion arose when there was little understanding of the way things actually worked, and was simply an attempt to play all possible odds: if the crops didn't come in, you would die. But of course we now have quite a complete understanding of earthly phenomena, and belief in god is no longer necessary (and as I mentioned earlier, useless). No scientist can do religion, because religion is a belief in supernatural effects, and science is entirely based on the premise that there is no such thing as a supernatural effect. Religion persists because people like the warm fuzzy feeling of imagining a big brother watching, as well as the fellowship of other believers. So, what should be your job as a pastor? To try to comfort the afflicted, and encourage them to continue to pursue their earthly existence againt an indifferent universe.

Past the visible no edvidence. Why might "God" Let inocent kids die while thugs stroll the streets. Why might a 30 12 months historical guy have lung melanoma and not ever smoked in his existence and an eighty four year historical guy smokes four packs an afternoon and nonetheless performs golfing. Why might God permit more cash be donated to feeding and housing animals (PETA,Humane Society) but men and women die of starvation daily. If there used to be a God why wouldnt he simply finish this a thousand 12 months query with a work of evidence. Why might there be dozens of religions that every one basicly argue the equal factor however then pull weapons over a diference corresponding to females priest. Why might god maintain to mention no marriage to catholic piest once they contiue to rape chidren considering they're so attractive Why might you suppose in a booklet that says you cant contact a lifeless pig but you will have soccer season tickets. Because devout men and women opt for to suppose what they desire considering of FAITH, that is excellent and I rather would care much less. But I dont put up on her 50 instances an afternoon asking how would you feasible suppose in god! I depart yo on my own now depart me on my own! Also I will guess ninety% of you asking no believers those questions are underneath the age of 20 and while I used to be 10-14 I believed additionally purpose I used to be supose to then I grew up and sked why, and found out that the one reply christians had for this used to be "FAITH" ....... So you question me why I dont suppose considering of FAITH! So now had been on the equal stalemate that continuously outcome on this query. So I will reply the equal means you do whilst you say you suppose considering of Faith and the Book tells you. Well my rationale for no longer believeing is considering of Faith and Books (Because each booklet however the bible proves me proper)!

As a child, I questioned the reality of the bible. I found the fables about talking snakes and the impossible story of Noah's Ark insulting. The more I observed the natural world, explored other cultured and educated myself in science, the stronger my doubts became. I was raised Lutheran, but I told my parents I could not continue with my confirmation. In particular, the evidence for evolution is overwhelming: The similarities between species. The useless vestigial remnants of evolution we carry around with us like our appendix and coccyx. The mitochondrial resemblance to a bacteria. Juxtapose all of this with the obvious conclusions we can draw from a far about historic religions, they all existed to explain the things people couldn't understand and to impart a sense of importance on us. Apollo pulls the moon up with a chariot. Gods anger make the ground shake. Only humans have soles. Since my declaration around 9 years old, I've only become more and more secure with my decision. Of course with all the horrible things done in the name of religion, it isn't hard to distance oneself.

Reason is the reason for my choice.

Faith is defined as believing despite the lack of evidence, or in spite of evidence to the contrary.

There's no evidence pointing toward the existence of any god or gods. True, there remains a small possibility that it does exist, but that possibility seems so vanishingly small as to be not worth thinking about.

Ridiculous religious dogma, sir. I will try to be respectful. I cannot abide hate and bigotry taught in churches. Did you actually choose to be attracted to women? No! You are the way you are born. If this God so loved us, than why is there a "hell" at all?

Take out religion, and I might be able to accept that there is a God.
