Sure you say you have a self awareness but I strongly believe most people don't possess soul and they are just living on instincts alone like ants running around and doing their things and living until they die. That's why nature/our creator doesn't stop certain tragedies because most people are just here to fill a space. However only small percentage possess soul, are you the one?

Wow...i contemplate this question ALL the time. I'm scared to think that after we die...that is the end. So I guess for sanity's sake I try to convince myself there is more. I don't know...this question always gets to me.

There is no such thing as a soul. Although in principle a person's actions could be predictable based on the totality of the circumstances as well as the totality of his previous history, in practice to determine this is completely impossible and a free-will model makes much more sense. But human beings differ from some primates only in having a superior ability to reason -- an ability which is obviously seldom used by religious types using this site.

That depends on what you mean by 'soul'.

1. an entity without material reality, regarded as the spiritual part of a person.

2. the moral or emotional nature of man.

3. spiritual or emotional warmth, force, etc.

Based on the context of your question, I guess you mean the second one (NOT a spirit being that resembles you that lives within you physical body for there really is no such thing). In this case, almost everybody has soul. There are a very few persons who have absolutely no emotions.

Yes. I am my own immortal soul. A soul or spirit isn't something you have, it's what you are. It isn't a "thing", it is a creator of "things".
But it can definitely deteriorate and what you are describing here is your observation of that exact manifestation.
A spirit or soul can deteriorate beyond "death". It is a dwindling spiral and we can become so unaware of ourselves as spiritual entities that the machinery we have created takes over and we appear like ants running around.
The hope factor is that rehabilitation of the spirit is possible since we are immortal. The small percentage are simply awake and aware of themselves, which leaves them with the huge responsibility to reach out and wake up the rest!

I see you are confused about all the religious bs. By scanning all these questions for hours and hours I see that many others are confused also. Well I admit that I am also and it is a mystery. If you have faith you may not seek answers but with all the contridictions of science and religious teachings you might be confused. There are many versions to the answers you seek, many faiths, many scientific theories but noone can prove it 100%. Might be best not to worry about things that can be read so many different ways. Just make up your own mind of what is ,was, will be and keep it to yourself. From your place in space and time noone sees it as you do,noone has walked your path, your genes are unique. Reality is a personal experience.

Interesting theory, but kinda strange. If only a select group has a soul then why bother? Why bother with religion or any of that stuff if only a few have a soul?

Why did Jesus go around healing and helping and teaching people who just took up space? If someone is soulless then it would not be a tragedy if I took their life. You are making a really odd argument that does not make sense. At least you are thinking.

Great question. In a sense every living thing has a soul. Humans have a higher soul, some more developed than others of course. You may as well ask is life alive. It is :-)

PS We are our own creator and tragedies arn't always tragedies, we are resilient and life changes but is amazingly eternal..

1) There is no such thing as a soul.

2) There is no such thing as a creator. There's no evidence pointing toward the existence of any deity or similar entity.

3) If we operated strictly on instinct, there would be no such thing as "taking turns" -- a concept which depends on the human notion of fairness, which is completely anti-instinctual.

No one has a soul, you are a Soul.
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;( and man became a living soul. )

Every Soul is valuable and important to God.God gave his only begotten
Son to redeem all souls back from death.

Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
God is calling don't turn him away!

We all possess a soul. Humans all have a physical body, a mind and a soul that never dies. Three parts but one complete person.

There are no souls. I still think I'm better than a cockroach, though that's a biased point of view. I'm sure the cockroach would differ with my opinion.
