YES, pulling out of Iraq now would be tantamount to the US Government pulling out of South Vietnam in 1975 and letting the Communist North Vietnamese coming across the border and killing 2 million South Vietnamese who had either worked for us or help us in the war and the
Pol Pot regime who killed another 2 to 4 million Cambodians. You are not wrong. What would happen
would be a signal to the Islamo-fascist terrorists that this country is ripe for a take over by them. We CANNOT LET THAT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely understand your position, but I disagree. The terrorists do not live in Iraq. There are a large number of insurgents in Iraq, who all want the Americans out. All we do by staying in Iraq is to create a breeding ground for extremism. I know (at least I think I know) that you are saying to yourself, "If we leave, there will be civil war and our soldiers will have died in vain." Well, there already is civil war. The last estimate I saw said that 100 were being kidnapped every day, and that was very conservative. The estimate that has recently come out of deaths in Iraq has said that on average 1000 people die daily of the fighting. The president has said that that study was discredited, but if anything, it's low. The results were gathered using the same technique that the CIA and World Health Organization use. As for our soldiers dying in vain, they're not fighting for a noble cause. I know that many are probably brave, extremely so, and probably believe it is their job to stay in Iraq. I respect them immensly, but they have been used for the Government's aims. They are subjugating a populace and killing hundreds of thousands. Literally. The afforementioned estimate stated that more than a half a million Iraqis had died in the war, 200,000 directly at the Americans' hands. About terrorists being emboldened by a withdrawal, they already are being emboldened. They see that the United States is weak, and that our troops are suffering greatly. The best way to destroy terrorism is to provide aid to countries like Iraq. If we can destroy poverty in Iraq, the terrorists have no base there. Same goes for Afghanistan and almost every other country in the world. The best way we can support the troops is to get them out of danger in Iraq, and the best way we can help the Iraqis is by pulling the troops out and offering aid.

Your wrong. Thanks for asking!!
Seriously, what does common sense tell you? Put the shoe on the other foot and you tell me what you'd be trying to accomplish? In that respect, imagine the Canadians as being insurgents. Don't you think that we'd kick the Canadians out after the struggle was over? You bet your booty!!
Second point--If someone came to your home in a tank and pulled you out into the street and pinned you down to the ground with a boot and an M-16--Wouldn't that person or that person's country become your enemy for life? How bout if they hauled you off to a prison for 6 months where your tortured and never tried? If they destroyed your entire civil infastructure, promised to refurbish it, and then just made your town into a lawless jungle and gave the money away to useless corporations--would you not be a little p'oed?
The Iraqi's have no ICBM's to attack us with. They have no WMD's(or am I getting ahead of your intelligence?) so there is no direct threat from them or terrorists provided we maintain our borders and develop a stance on dealing with their types that does not increase their hatred and numbers on a daily basis.
Drop the fear--that argument lost it's validity yesterday.
One way or another were pullling out, maintaining our presence in Iraq to benefit those companies that Bush gave no-bid contracts to, to build that massive Embassy, or to have more of our guys killed because of incompetence and greed for oil is a stance the Bush Regime cannot hold onto any longer.

You are correct, the president is going to do his best to steer the new majority in the proper direction. He still has the support of hundreds of millions of people around the world. Thankfully President Bush is a strong and focused leader.

The sad thing is that people simply do not care about the Iraqi people nor about what the US troops have sacrificed to achieve.
One political party has determined that they will benefit politically from a defeat.
