I have struggled all my life with forgiveness because of my shitty upbringing. I was hurt and betrayed very badly by my Father and even now I find it hard to forgive him. I know people say forgiveness is the key to happiness but I have to disagree.. Forgiving him in my eyes is condoning what he did. However I do forgive other people in my life, but then nobody has ever hurt me that much since.

Could I forgive? Yes NO MATTER HOW BAD THE HURT WAS.
I am a forgiving person as forgiveness is the one tool that will help you become better than the one that cannot forgive. If I had time before I died I would forgive the one that was responsible for my murder.Yes, even if someone took my life away from me I could forgive them for it.

It depends on whether they've accepted responsibility for what they have done and are sorry for the hurt they've caused. If they are, then I could eventually find it in my heart to forgive. If they don't, then I couldn't forgive. Even though I know they say forgiving someone helps you through the healing process, I don't think I could forgive them if they don't even acknowledge what they've done.

I have always believed that when I forgive something hurtful, I do the forgiving for myself and not the other party.
I don't want to live my life being bitter or full of hate.

I would try to, but I have got to a stage in my life
where I have continually forgiven, and continually
been hurt - the pain doesn't go away, but it does
get better over time. Holding onto grudges only
makes you feel worse whilst the perpetrator continues
with their life unhindered. So, I would try to forgive
if possible, but never forget because you have
learned something through the pain. Let it make
you a stronger rather than a weaker person.

Yes, forgive. But I don't put myself in a position to be hurt by that person again. I forgive, and I remember.

You should always forgive someone...but never forget. It makes you a better person to find it in your heart to forgive.

It is entirely up to you to forgive, but the best thing to do is completely shun this person make then cease to exist in your life and that way you can forgive and forget
