I'm sorry, I should have stated that my dog is a 12 year old Black Lab, one of two that I love dearly. She gets regular vet appointments, and I had her teeth cleaned just a couple of months ago, and brush them regularly. She was at the vet one month ago for her check up. All is well, but this breath thing. Will try all healthy sugestions.

Just wondering if you have had the dog checked by a veterinarian? Many times bad breath can mean the dog needs a dental cleaning or needs some teeth extracted and just covering it up can have horrible health consequences.
If they don't need a dental there are foods out there that are designed to remove plaque and tarter off the teeth and may help with the smell. There are also products that you can put in their water to help with smell. But if the teeth are rotting or there is gingivitis no diets or cosmetics will help the smell.

It has been our experience with our Greyhounds that bad breath means a gum infection. We actually have our one dog on a 10 day course of antibiotic's 4 times a year for this. This prevents the infection from getting into her blood stream and causing other problems and prevents the need to pull major teeth. It cost's about $40 for each prescription (for the good stuff there are cheaper antibiotics available) and since it is saving us major money for tooth extraction and possible complications it is well worth the $. Our Vet also recommends that she chew rawhide chews to help with this... So check with your Vet! Good luck hope it is something simple.

I bought my 2 Year old Chihuahua a Baby toothbrush and a Baby brand toothpaste. Make sure that these are baby safe products because the big toothbrush could hurt his mouth and the toothpaste could burn his mouth.
