"major sin?" What gives you that idea?
Yes, in the bible it says for a man to lie with another man is abominable. However, in the same book of the bible (leviticus), it says women must hide from the world during their periods, and not be touched by anyone or they are all declared "unclean" and are to be punished.
It also says there that you should stone adulterers and fornicators, that you must offer various sacrifices of meat and blood several times a week...why do christians choose to follow the prohibition against homosexuality (and foist that view on everyone else), and not the other prohibitions and laws in the same book? Selective enforcement at its worst.
In the new testament, jesus said that his new law replaced the old law (Mosaic law from the old testament). His new commandment was to love one another, to do good to those who use you, to turn the other cheek, to not judge anyone.
How sad it is that the vast majority of christians choose to ignore the person they claim to follow, and instead choose to selectively pick parts of the "old law" to use as their rallying cry against "immorality." Jesus would be ashamed of those who do so.

Yes it does. I am not going to google search you every verse because I am sure someone before or after me will. I think in romans it talks about how homosexuality is bad along with a laundry list of other sins and in Matthew Jesus discuses that marriage is between a man and a woman then he discusses divorce. That's all i know from the top of my head. At least you are smart enough to recognize the difference between the old testament and the new testament and i would give you a high five because alot of people don't. As per your question Yes the new testament still views homosexuality as wrong. The only difference being that we no longer would kill/attack homosexual people which is better i think. People who argue differently are doing what i like to call making the bible work for them and it's childish. Anyway i hope i answered your question!

You are free to talk about most things in most different sections, so long as you make it clear you're talking about a particular aspect relevant to that section.
So if you want to talk about the religious and spiritual rules or impacts of being homosexual, this is the best place for it. If you want to disucuss homosexuality in general, there's a section for that. If you want to discuss the possible biological basis for homosexuality head on over to the biology section. Or even if you want to know if homosexuals prefer some foods to others, you can bring that up in the cooking area.
Just don't get those mixed up, or you're likely to get reported. And then if you're reported enough you'll probably end up disgruntled, and perhaps paranoid. I've seen it happen around here before. Peace out! ( :

If you believe you are a spiritual human being, created by God, then everything and anything can fall under the topic of R & S. If your faith is in God and believe the Word was inspired by Him, then it is obvious the view point of homosexuality. I suggest reading it to find out what God says about it. I would label homosexuality a sin. Does that make me hate people who are gay- no. The opposite really. Gods word tells me that God so loved the World that He sent His son to die for our sin. And he commands me to love everyone. He who is without sin- go ahead and caste the first stone! But remember, just because we call an action a sin, does NOT mean we hate or are judging. Everyone has sinned for we are born into sin because of the fall. Forgiveness is given to those who repent and change their ways. Sin is just as serious if it is a lie, stealing, or homosexuality. It ALL needs to be forgiven. And we all have the free ability to ask for it once we recognize it.

Since homosexuality is addressed in the Bible, it is a legitimate topic for R&S, when you keep it on a Biblical or spiritual level. If you want to talk about its civil rights implications, or the bio-medical implications of it, then that discussion should be moved to another category.
It's a sin for the three major religions of the world. Does anyone know if it is condoned in other religions? (I can't think of a single one.)

Homosexuality is not a religion. It is psychological and in some cases physical. Either way, simply telling a person "don't be gay" isn't enough to make them straight.
Telling them that they are abominations worthy of the seventh corner of hell will only make them either laugh or commit suicide if they take you seriously.
The only thing you and others who wish to "discuss" homosexuality accomplish is making people feel bad about a part of themselves that they don't know how to change (and you can't help them).
Do you really want to do that? If you do then you are the sick one committing a big sin against mankind and God.

It is idiots that consider sexual orientation a sin that makes the R&S section definitely appropriate to discuss homosexuality.

I think that topic has a place here. It has not been considered a psychological disorder for decades, so the resistance homosexuals get is from religious and social conservativism. Politics would be another place for it to be discussed.

There is no such thing as major and minor sin. And homosexuality is not a sin. Practice of same gender sex as a way around adultry by hetrosexuals is.
It has a place here since it is ia topic that humanity is not in consensus on. That is one of the main purposes of religious community.

Who says its a major sin? is it in the ten commandments to not love another person of thesame sex? I don't think so. The only sin in homosexuality is on the part of the people who are trying to kill off homosexuals, and like that ted guy, I suspect most of you bigots are secretly gay yourselves.
