I guess it depends how well you know the person, if it's someone you know fairly well you could catch them on their own and tell them gently that they have a problem or, as I'm sure most of us have done at some time, buy them toiletries as a christmas or birthday gift. We once had a problem like this in an office where I worked and no one wanted to approach the person in question directly so we just started a conversation about favourite shower products etc, and managed to mention our concerns about freshness after a long day and so on and gave each other tips. It did work in our case.

Play around with them and make them think you're joking. So say whoa we stink. Then hopefully they'll get the hint. Or say ill I smell something and it isn't me.

Pull them aside and be as polite as possible and just flat out tell them. It takes a true friend to say that to somebody as opposed to just talking behind the back of the person who is stinky.

if u stunk u would want soemone to pull u aside confidentally and tell u straight up. the person probably has no clue and will be really embaressed but glad u told them.
