You can download PowerPoint viewer from microsoft.com for free. This is the solution if someone sent to a .ppt file, but it won't help if you want to create a presentation.

Microsoft PowerPoint is commercial software and it is illegal to download it. However, there is a free alternative called the OpenOffice.org office suite. It's a free download, put out by people and companies who want to share this amazing software with the world, and it's presentation program is almost perfectly compatible with PowerPoint.

go to microsoft.com--you can download a trial version of Microsoft Office, which includes PowerPoint--the trial version is good for about 60 days, after that you have to pay
