Some people get keloids in certain places on their body and not others. My guess is you'd probably get another one if you pierced the same area. I've had friends with pierced belly buttons that got huge keloids but other places that they pierced were fine.

There are a lot of home remedies, some work for some people. I've heard that using a cotton ball to apply Tea Tree Oil (morning and at night) will help reduce the size of a new scar.

The best thing you can do is see a doctor. They can give you cortisone shots that may help shrink it but they can sometimes reoccur anyway. Surgery may be the only option though it may cause more scar tissue to form, making it worse.

A hypertrophic scar looks similar to a keloid and is more common. They don't get a big and may fade with time but only a doctor could tell you which type you have.
