He believes in Jesus - he believes in the Bible - he's regarded as such by millions of people all over the world - he claims that everyone must do as he says because Jesus tells him so - so, how do I know for sure he isn't?

We have "faith" in Jesus Christ. The prophet provides guidance and leadership. He doesn't say that everyone must do as he says. When we listen to him, however, we will find a better path to happiness.

True and how do you know for sure those who translated the Bible from one language to another did so as God desired. Paul never even met Christ yet 70% of the Bible are his words. You have to be very sincere and pray like anything to get the whole truth and nothing but the truth. King Constantine had so many things taken out of the Bible to control the citizens, such as reincarnation and Vegetarianism. Now the whole world is following the Bible thinking they are following Christ and God . GO to http://www.essene.org The Essenes are the original Christians who went underground at the time of Christ(because they where being killed by non Christians) and they have found their lost teachings of Christ. (What the Catholic Church doesn't want you to know .)

Prayer.
You have to pray about it. Ask God if it is true, and then be humble enough to accept the answer that is given to you. This type of questioning is incouraged in the church. No one should ever blindly believe anything. You have to research it or "study it out" in your mind, then pray and ask God if it's right, believing you will recieve an answer.
I know of someone who had to do this very thing with a previous President of the church. She had to really do some soul searching and lots of prayer when President Benson became President of the church. (President Benson was two Presidents ago) She said since then, she hasn't had a problem accepting and sustaining other Presidents as they have come, but that one time was really hard for her.
She recieved an answer, you can too.

Oh, and "he claims that everyone must do as he says because Jesus tells him so", is a false statement. As I said, no one is expected to do or believe anything without first studying it out in their minds. President Hinckley has never said the we MUST do as he says. There are plenty of people who don't, but still sustain him as President of the church.

The Holy Bible Douay-Rheims Version

With Challoner Revisions 1749-52
1899 Edition of the John Murphy Company

IMPRIMATUR:
James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, September 1, 1899.

Pope Damasus assembled the first list of books of the Bible at the Roman Council in 382 A.D. He commissioned St. Jerome to translate the original Greek and Hebrew texts into Latin, which became known as the Latin Vulgate Bible and was declared by the Church to be the only authentic and official version, in 1546.

The DR New Testament was first published by the English College at Rheims in 1582 A.D. The DR Old Testament was first published by the English College at Douay in 1609 A.D. The first King James Version was not published until 1611. This online DRV contains all 73 books, including the seven Deutero-Canonical books (erroneously called Apocrypha by Protestants). These seven books were included in the 1611 KJV, but not in later KJV Bibles.

The whole Douay-Rheims Bible was revised and diligently compared with the Latin Vulgate by Bishop Richard Challoner in 1749-1752 A.D. The notes included in the text were written by Dr. Challoner.

The DR Bible was photographically reproduced from the 1899 edition of the John Murphy Company, Baltimore, Maryland, by Tan Books in 1971. Eventually, this edition was optically scanned to produce a large text file which this publisher used for creating this website, with the aid of text-processing software.

One important goal of this project was to preserve the original text "as is", without making any changes in the wording, because the original text had the Imprimatur of James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, dated Sept 1st 1899.

The text file was checked quite thoroughly by software written by the publisher for punctuation errors and verses out of order. The index was humanly checked for misspelled words and the corrections were made to the text. However, some spelling errors may still be present in the text. Many verses were out of order in the original file. These have been corrected.

Every effort was made to ensure that this online version is an exact match to the original printed version. No words were added or ommitted from the text, except for correcting errors caused by the scanning process. No words were rearranged. No verse numbers were changed, except in the case of Psalm 9.

Psalm 9 originally contained 21 verses and there were 2 versions of Psalm 10, numbering 1-18 and 1-8. This obviously caused a conflict, so it was decided to make the first Psalm 10 as the last part of Psalm 9 and renumber the verses 22-39. This retains the same numbering as all the Douay Rheims. Note, in the Protestant Bibles the numbering of Psalms 10 through 146 differs by one.

I believe that if there is no Holy Bible support to a view one holds, there is no light in it. (Isa.8:20 below).

I believe that when an author’s religious writings are read one must ask themselves, Can this writing/view stand in the light of the Holy Bible? If it cannot, there is no light in it. I believe one must always ask themselves, Where is the Scriptural support for this view? I believe that the Holy Bible is our only guide.

Isa.8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.

When you say "If 'I' say I have faith" then yes, he is. If you believe he is, and the Holy Ghost has born witness to you that he is a prophet, he is.
It's called a testimony and there are many ways of gaining one and helping it grow. It sounds silly to say, but it's a personal thing, your testimony. You cannot prove it to anyone. You cannot physically "show" a person your testimony. It is something you believe and know to be true.
I know our current prophet, Gordon B Hinckley, is a prophet of God. I know he personally receives Revelation for the church. I know he speaks with God. How do I know? I just do. I have a testimony of it, one cannot look at him or even be in his presence without knowing he is an extraordinary man and has probably the closest relationship with the Lord than any other person on the earth. You can see it in his countenance.

I heard a rumor that a super clarification why blacks weren't given the priesthood till 1978 replaced into through fact there had to be a unanimous conserving by potential of all the participants of the Quorum of the Twelve, and McConkie replaced right into a super carry out. It took them a whilst to cajole him that God replaced into asserting "supply them the priesthood". "Mormon Doctrine" replaced into no longer an respected church instruction manual, yet McConkie's very own paintings. He did get many things precise in it, that's why it replaced into quoted many circumstances. yet, specific, he did have some issues that had to be corrected. He knew that countless previous prophets ans apostles had made what as we talk sound like racist comments. We do believe in line upon line, theory on theory, and that residing prophets can get carry of revelation which will astounding previous errors or make clean confusing issues, or simplify the way we do issues, or regulate issues through fact the church grows. What worked for a church of 13,000 does no longer paintings for a church of 13,000,000. >whilst he replaced into advised that his very own teachings have been incorrect?< the keyword in it somewhat is "his very own teachings". They have been his, no longer unavoidably the church's. maximum everyday government have reported "do no longer take myword for it, do no longer persist with me blindly, take it up with God, examine the scriptures like the Bereans, and discover out for your self."

Just because a zillion people have faith in something doesn't make it true. Anyone knows that. Faith means to hold as a reality what can't be proven. Because I might WANT something to be true does not make it so. The scientific method can yield proof; but religion cannot.

Even the devil believes in Jesus !

The mormon leader is not a Christian.
Mormons deny that Jesus is God even though the Pharisees clearly understood Jesus' teachings.
They would prefer to listen to the words of the angel Moroni, than to listen to sacred scripture's warnings.

Your faith must not be in faith, and it must not be in man. Your faith must be in the One who created heaven and earth.

The doctrines taught by the LDS is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul taught volumes of doctrine, and never taught the things you'll hear at the main temple in Utah.
Secret handshakes? Secret rituals? A planet for me and a planet for you is going to be "heaven"?
