My mate had emphysemia and thought it was to late and pointless to give up. After about 2 years, she give up the ciggies and after about 6 months started to feel better and less attacks, that was 3 yrs ago and she is much better now, still suffers but not half as much!
SO GIVE THEM UP.....I am soon.........how soon though depends on how the 4 kids behave! LOL

Depends. Do you want to live or die? If you quit, you could be much more comfortable and live longer without too many breathing issues. If you don't quit...you are just going to suffocate yourself. I had an uncle who died a horrible death. The idiot would stand outside, take off his oxygen mask and smoke. Then put it back on and come into the house all out of breath. Unbelievable.

My Grandfather had this and used to smoke 60 a day. He managed to give up and prolonged his life by 20 years. Give up now, it will be worth it.

i feel for you, it's hard enough to give up without a long term illness hanging over you.
how do you feel? giving up smoking would help as it would open up your airways & aid your breathing but if you are not ready then trying cutting down.
when you are ready you will be able to look at stopping completly but maybe look at cutting down & going from there.
take care.

My sister-in-law used to smoke, she gave it up 10 years ago, she has just been told she has cancer of the breast as well as osteoporosis. Sometimes i wonder about smoking.

It depends on how far advanced the disease is and what your prognosis is, it might help you to breath easier if you give up. Discuss it with your doc and see what they say as they know more about your particular case.
