Only if the old marriage is invalid. If you were a Catholic when you first married, and chose not to marry in the church, this should be easy to prove. A Justice of the Peace Marriage does not a Church Wedding make. Go see your parish priest and begin annulment proceedings. This must be done first.
Good luck.

Depends on what you mean by a marriage dissolution.

The Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorces.

Jesus said, "Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Mark 10:9)

However there may be hope of a declaration of nullity.

The term "annulment" is a misnomer because the Church does not undo or erase a marriage bond.

Rather the Church issues a declaration of nullity when it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present.

Then the parties are free to marry for the first time.

Approach the appropriate person your in your parish who has been trained in the process. If you encounter difficulties, you may go directly to the diocese.

Be prayerful, honest and patient. It takes a while.

With love in Christ.

Yes you can .. but but... I am catholic too, and when I got divorced, I did some research.. well.. went to the church and asked them if I would be able to be married in the church again, and I was told that yes as Long as my marriage was annulled.. I didn't' want to have it annulled because I had kids in that marriage.. and besides.. an annulment for the Catholic church at the time was nearly $1000.00.. so I just figured I would never get remarried in the church...

What is a marriage dissolution, do you mean divorce? The church tends to frown on divorce, if it's an annulment you might have a chance. Also you're probably going to have to join a church. Then the priest can answer this question, since he has the final say.

You will have to get an annulment for sure. ANd if you have not been baptized or confirmed you must also do that. Once those three things are done your set to go. however, some churches may require that you are an active member in the church which just basically means going to church every sunday and if you really want to help the church become a lectr or cathecatical teacher or maybe a part of the choir? THis is not required however!

If you are catholic and never married in the church, You CAN have a church wedding, but you need to accfept that your kids will be raised Catholic...and why wouldn't you if you want a church wedding? Also you need to take the wedding prep classes, but it is just a formality that will strengthen your bond. Good luck! The sacrament of marriage is beautiful.

The Catholic Church teaches that if you have been divorced you cannot get married in the Church. If you have an annulment, you can get married, but you cannot get married in the Church unless your previous marriage(s) were annuled.
Hope this helps.

Most Catholic churches require you to be a member and, practicing and attending church. But it depends so you'll have to talk to that specific priest.

Talk to the church, they may have to do the annulment themselves, then they can marry you.

You need to go talk to either of your parish priests, and he will be able to give you specific information on what happens in that diocese. I've learned from here that it can vary from place to place.
