This is a big problem here in America. Why does everything have to be handled with lawyers. Shouldn't that be a last resort?

I am a mechanic and yes only as a last resort. If you have a problem with my work come and tell me I have a sign on my wall that says if it is not right we will make it right at no additional charge. If you are still not satisfied then I will give you your money back.
I have never had to go to court over anything I have done to your car.
I work with people and don't argue.
It seems in America that this country is SUE CRAZY
that is why we make lawyers rich only to get shafted by them.
It seems to me that people have lost the means and want to discuss something that thy have feeled have wronged them.
I say if you have a problum, go back to the guy and the discuss it work it out, dont yell and then if the guy wont work with you then call a lawer. Most people are willing to work with you only if you ask.

Lawyers are the reason you need lawyers. Yes it SHOULD be a last resort. Yes it is a big problem in America. Frivolous lawsuits are rampant and lawyers are to blame.

I am manager of a business and I had 3 former clients try to sue the business I work for because we had to sue them for collection. They didn't pay their bills. Keep in mind that we already had judgments against them in collections court. But because of a shyster lawyer they found and the way the court system works, they were able to draw the whole thing out for a year, costing us tens of thousands of dollars in attorneys fees to defend ourselves. In the end, they did not win, but we didn't either. We had to forgave their debt to us (enabling them to get away with not paying their bills) in order to finally end the whole ordeal.

Fact of the matter is, unless you have a money printing press in your basement, you need attorneys to protect you from other attorneys and frivolous lawsuits. So, you go right ahead and use them as a last resort and see where it gets you. Until the courts are reformed, I am not willing to take that chance.

I would recommend mediation as a first step; when you dint start with a lawyer people often dint take you seriously.

I was involved in an accident where i was not at fault. in Michigan if the person who caused the accident gives the OK their insurance company can pay up to $500 of the other deductible. i called the insurance company and they said no. i called the person and they got irritated and called their insurance company. the insurance person called me and told me to stop harassing their customer even though they were at fault. i had to go to court and file a small claims case. i got all of my money plus court costs and the expenses for the food i had just bought that was ruined.

legal issues require a lawyer. the problem is the system is so inbred. all the judges are lawyers. it all goes downhill from there.
