gas fire clean and no mess instant heat just when you need it .there are so many designs now .

Gas is a better heat source than wood and less maintenance than cleaning out the creosite from the chimney and black smoke remnants on the brick surround.
You should get the blower kind and ceramic logs with titanium pellets for the realistic look of logs and embers.

Gas can be very expensive, but in the long run it's cleaner. I have gas but wish I had wood so I could use it without breaking my wallet.

gas gives more heat if you get one with the blower, and is almost mantenance free. the cost isnt free though. and wood is high maintenance but much cheaper to use. and doesnt give as much heat.
